Pakistan re-opening Afghanistan supply route, Clinton says

Pakistan has decided to re-open supply routes that the United States and its allies have used to supply their troops in Afghanistan, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday.

Pakistan shut down the supply routes - stretching from Afghanistan through the lawless western tribal regions of Pakistan and down to the southern port of Karachi - last November after dozens of its troops were killed in a mistaken U.S. airstrike. Clinton said Tuesday she offered her "deepest regrets" to Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar for the "tragic incident."

"This is a tangible demonstration of Pakistan’s support for a secure, peaceful, and prosperous Afghanistan and our shared objectives in the region," Clinton said. "This will also help the United States and ISAF conduct the planned drawdown at a much lower cost. This is critically important to the men and women who are fighting terrorism and extremism in Afghanistan."

The routes offer a shorter and more direct route than the one NATO has been using since November that goes through Russia and other nations and avoids Pakistan altogether. The supply route will take on more significance as NATO troops prepare to depart Afghanistan by 2014 and will have to move heavy equipment and supplies out of Afghanistan for shipment from Karachi.

now with all this said....as much as pakistan plays both sides, pretending to help us, but supporting terrorism.....this is why we violate their airspace with our drones on a daily basis, and basically wipe out insurgents faster then the isi can replace them....maybe theyll let us use shamsi airbase again for those too....is it a violation of airspace if the drone flights come from within pakistan? ive never seen a country play both sides like this....it is unreal

People of the United States of America,
Happy 4th of July,That being said, we are all screwed!!!Due to the incompetance in all 3 branchs of the United States Government at all levels and parties the future of this country looks pretty grim.I am so tired of all the BS and .shear stupidity I hear reported from CNN,FOX and MSNBC is beyond belief. From the 500 Billion dollars that Obama is going to pull from Medicare to help pay for Obama Care to Republicans believing the American people do not need government assitance to get them thru these hard times is moronic. Also, all waviers for Obama Care should be pulled back so everyone shares the pain equally.Farm subsidies for not growing crops and all foreign aid especaily Eygpt,Pakistan and Afganistan etc should be stopped as an example. How many Billions of dollars could be saved by this and those dollars funnelled into helping the unemployed and homeless in this country.I am tired of this country trying to save the world when people in this country have the problems they live with every day.Something needs to be done and I mean NOW!
