One year ago Thursday, Casey Anthony entered a courtroom in a pink ruffled shirt, her hair pulled back in a ponytail. She waited to learn whether a jury had found her guilty in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
The tension was palpable. The case had gripped the entire country, and emotions were flaring outside the courthouse. Inside, Anthony was biting her nails and her lower lip and taking deep breaths at the defense table.
Then came the words that would divide many: not guilty. Her trial was one that had gripped the nation. It was a summer obsession for many, who stayed glued to the TV from the moment Caylee went missing to the moment that verdict was read.
Casey Anthony's trial was a summer obsession | Casey Anthony's trial is one hot ticket
Anthony had been found not guilty of first-degree murder in the 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter and of aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter. The woman whose face was known around the world, who had been dubbed "tot mom," had her day in court.
HLN: The Casey Anthony Effect | Nancy Grace: Story 'didn't make sense' from start
One year later, Anthony remains in hiding, fearful for her safety and her life. She says she's received numerous threats because people still believe she is guilty of the crime. But she continues to fight to convince them that she is not guilty, exactly the finding a jury decided 12 months ago. Anthony said the world may have one view of her, but she knows who she truly is.
"There’s obviously several misconceptions," Anthony told CNN's Piers Morgan in June. "Obviously, I didn’t kill my daughter."
Anthony told Morgan that she cherished her daughter and did not want to get rid of her, as many people had suggested during and after her trial.
"If anything there’s nothing in this world I’ve ever been more proud of, and there’s no one I loved more than my daughter," Anthony said. "She’s my greatest accomplishment."
As the anniversary nears, here is a look back at evidence and testimony, the verdict as it happened, analysis of the "historic decision" by the jury and some key video from the trial.
Defense: 'Caylee drowned'
The defense argues the Casey Anthony case is not a murder case but a tragic coverup that "snowballed out of control."
Casey: 'All I want is my kid back'
In a conversation taped in jail, Casey Anthony lashes out at the media over coverage of Caylee's disappearance.
Cindy Anthony: 'I lost it'
In court, Casey's mother, Cindy Anthony, describes her journey to finally see Casey and realizing Caylee was missing.
Lee Anthony: 'I was really hurt'
Brother Lee Anthony breaks down in court when asked about Casey's pregnancy.

I would kill her if I saw her too. I wouldn't care if I died in the process. She did murder her daughter. Whether or not it was on accident matters very little. The fact that she tried to hide it by putting her daughters body in a bag and leaving her out like an animal with an unmarked grave shows she was trying to hide what she did. The only reason she isn't convicted is because her mother said she was the one who looked up how to make chloroform even though she was at work at the time her computer was being used. I think Casey should be waiting on the death penalty and her mother should be I'm jail for perjury.
So you are admitting on a public post that you are just as low life as she is? It makes no difference what you or I think. The JURY said "not guilty". That's that. If you want an Islamic court go to Iran.
Sure If you can't get what you want resort to LYNCHING just like the good ole Ku Klux Klan days,
This is all Kwame Kilpatrick's fault!
I dont usually participate in these types of forums, but this case outraged me. One thing in this case that was very obvious that it was not about justice for Caylee but about who wins in our legal system .Caseys attorneys were paying staff to monitor social media sites so that they could base there defense on popular opinions. The defense attorneys should not be allowed to create a defense for someone that is a untrue defense. That in itself should be criminal. They should only be allowed to make true and accurate statements pertaining to actual events. Jose baez turned the courtroom into a three ring circus with his accusations of her father. If you review the jailhouse tapes and letters and previous press jose did prior to the trial you will see that his defense did not coincide with the statements he had made regarding her prior to the trial.Jose himself was looking for Caylee. Offering rewards. So if this child in fact drowed and she had a legitimate defense why did her attorney not know about it till after her body was found and he seen all the evidence against her?
why is nancy grace still working at cnn
Hasn't this D.B. gotten enough press by now?
No kidding – time to put this rest. Must be a VERY slow news day.
So True.
There is a such thing as a perfect murder. Casey Anthony proved it.
This is over and done with. Shut up already and quit rehashing this crap. Come up with an original article.
Thanks Jody – the voice of reason. It was bad enough having wall-to-wall Anthony during her trial.
Tot mom, killed her child.
No she did not Look at the Dad
Why are you reading this post if you are so sick of hearing it. Move on to another post. You dont have to weed through this to get somewhere else. You are hear reading this by choice so your obviously still interested as well.
Please stop scratching at that old scab.
I feel sorry for Nancy Grace. She had long judged Casey guilty but the jury ignored her. One year later and Nancy is still suffering Poor Nancy.
ero GOOD SHOW a very good post
This has nothing to do with Nancy Grace and what she thinks, this has to do with twelve people on a jury who did not have the common sense god gave a billy goat.
Don't lose sight that a beautiful baby girl was murdered and justice wasn't served. Somehow we've allowed the justice system in America to become as twisted and evil as we are as individuals. It isn't about getting to the truth anymore; it's about getting your client off by any and all means possible. Invention, lying, twisting the truth and word-smithing....that's what our legal system has become.
casey anthony, oj simpson, jerry sandusky. Who got convicted? The older white guy.....
its amazing anthony has not been killed yet...
