George Zimmerman – a Florida man charged with murder in the February shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin – was released from jail on Friday, a day after a judge set a new bail amount.
A Florida judge on Thursday set a $1 million bail with new restrictions on Zimmerman (pictured), saying he believes the suspect may have been planning to flee the country to avoid prosecution in the killing of Martin.
Zimmerman's previous bail – $150,000 – was revoked last month after the judge learned Zimmerman and his wife had failed to disclose more than $150,000 in donations from the public.
Leading up to the judge's decision Thursday, Zimmerman attorney Mark O'Mara asked the judge to set the same $150,000 bail amount that he granted in April. Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda countered that Zimmerman should remain in jail without bail because he was complicit in lying to the court and can't be trusted.

Zimmerman was not a police officer. He had no right to go after Trayvon. That is what the police are paid for and trained to do. Zimmerman was not in imminent danger. He had no business gunning down this kid.

To base a opinion on a gut feeling and then use backwards reasoning to rationalize your position is a fail. Try looking at ALL the evidence with an open mind first, and then coming to a conclusion. I sit here and read the responses from you people, and all I can say is you cannot fix one wrong with another. Some guy on here seems to keep mentioning the murders in Chicago listen the black community has been torn apart by design; almost every black community is filled with the same b.s liquor stores, abandoned houses, and guns. You think black people gathered around and said we want our neighborhoods to look this way, we want violence, no. There has been no trial & it is extremely that this man will ever be convicted. When a person is being beaten & their life is endangered, they have a right to use lethal force. Especially when the attacker(Trayvon) is larger, heavier, & in in a position that pins the smaller person in place unable to dislodge the attacker by other means. Defense is not murder.

If there were a lack of racism in the black community, Pretzelogic, There would be no race riots. Sadly; looking at the messages from people who refuse to see this as anything but racially motivated... I think that there is a possibility that innocent people will die when justice is done.

Are the repeated lies that he's told about his lack of financial resources admissible in court? I'm not saying whether George Zimmerman is guilty or not but he's demonstrated some serious character issues. He lied in the e-mails to the police leading up to the incident regarding the neighborhood watch he set up, he's lied multiple times about his "lack" of financial resources, he's assaulted a police officer before and he's been mandated to alcohol education classes by court. Not to mention his story about what happened the night of the shooting, especially whether or not Martin grabbed for his gun or not, has changed multiple times.
Don't you think it's a bit hypocritical to claim that every time a black person shoots a white person it's a hate crime, yet claim that Zimmerman shooting Martin is not a hate crime? Please keep the bigotry to yourself.
It was a hate crime! GZ hated being sucker-punched by that little angel Trayvon. And he hated getting a busted nose, and he hated getting his head beat into the ground, and he hated being pinned to the ground...so he defended himself from great bodily harm because he hated the thought of being killed by Trayvon...so he shot him. Definitely a hate crime if you ask me.
