An impromptu memorial to slain teenager Trayvon Martin has been dismantled, but the items that composed it are being preserved, the city of Sanford, Florida, announced Monday.
After consultations with Martin's family, city staff members removed the items from the entrance of the subdivision where Martin was shot in February during a confrontation with neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, City Manager Norton Bonaparte's office said.
Zimmerman, 28, was released from jail Friday after posting bond on a second-degree murder charge. He has said he shot Martin in self-defense after Martin assaulted him.
The city workers moved the objects to the Sanford Museum on Monday afternoon, the announcement said.
"All the items retrieved have been carefully handled and inventoried," it said.

Don't waste your time arguing a point of Trayvon Martin's innocense, even Adlolf Hitler had followers thousands of them and some that claim to be Neo Natzi's today were in Florida in support of Zimmerman. (Hitler I know was turning over in his grave!) Why try to enter a logical conversation with these people let them be. Let them send their riches to Zimmerman he is a hero in there eyes just as Hitler was a hero to some for wanting to kill and justify the killing of people because he had some life changing event that cosumed his brain and allowed him to go on a rampage. George Zimmeran is facing the same kind of demons and these people would follow him down the same path of insanity

The reason those murders don’t have rallies and marches is the majority of them are committed by other blacks. There is no money in calling for rallies and marches in cases like that. Isn’t that right Mr. Sharpton?

I don't know why the city of Sanford would get involved in preserving the Trayvon 'memorial' items in the city museum.
I could understand it if the 'memorial' was in memory of a city official, a founder of the City of Sanford, etc. I see this type of memorial assembled by family and friends along the highways where a family loved one may have been killed in an auto accident, etc., but I do not recall any instance where a city or county has relocated the 'memorial' to a public building.
In my opinion if the Martin family wanted this 'memorial' preserved, it should have been moved at the family's expense to a private location.
I agree. This entire mess is ridiculous. This is just another attempt by the Martin's being played as puppets by Sharpton, Jackson, the Black Panthers, etc. to make more money and prolong the issue.
Pitiful if you ask me. He was just another teenage kid to the public. There is no way he "deserves" anything from the city or the public for that matter.

I think the FACT that despite all the money Martin's "parents" have collected already that they are *still* receiving social services benefits and no one no where in the media is pointing that out, is pretty telling.
And that is not to mention WHY no one in the prosecutors office is talking about that either . . . .

I clicked on Sanford Museum and it is a man who helped the citrus industry, with folk art, it has many items with the history of Sanford. I can only think that this memorial will be part of that which a law was made and what became of that law after a young man was killed in a neighborhood watch program, aimed at protecting it's citizens. History of that city.

Parents are divorced, alleged victim runs wanders through a residential neighborhood to girlfriend of father who lives by the neighborhood, alledged victim was kicked out of school in FL that resulted in his re-locating with father in Dade-Miami, alledged victim came out to buy iced-tea and skittles for baby brother – REALLY??? No current snapshot of the alleged victim has been posted up to this date......is there a reason??? George Zimmerman was BEATEN to a pulp, not sure how he wasn't killed with his own gun???
