Funny americans (not funny ha ha!). So because he is white he is not a terroist? Hmmmm!
Wake up america your society needs to look in the mirror. OMG what a race based nation. Ah well it is the way you were inculcated. When crimes are comitted by blacks you populace wants to put them on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Let them die there. No-one makes negative comments when caucasians commit heinous crimes. The world is watching america. Look at yourselves in the mirror.

Stop with the politics and blame game for just one second. We will spend the next few months discussing all these issues in detail – let's be keeping our thoughts and prayers on the victims and community suffering through this trauma. We at least owe them a weekend of love and support before people start taking sides on the issues involved. And give it up for the police – walking into an active crime scene and trying to save people. Bravery beyond words.

Social media can be beneficial to healing if one is resoectful to all of the victims including the shooter's entire family.
If one really reads the 911 communications above...the entire nightmare unfolding in front of every law enforcement branch we own and the military oegged some poor guy in a blue plaid shirt as a possible shooter.
THEY were the men with the legal lethal weapons....
We are all so lucky that all the theatre goers weren't packing AK47's Glocks, Shotguns, or Rugers. HOW would the pilice have then known who the ACTUAL shooter was? If the trained exoerts with 'boots on the ground' make understandable mistakes, how can trained or untrained civilians with guns possibly help with bullets spraying, rico heting

Well if all the theatre goers WERE packing ak47's, glocks, shotguns or rugers the police would have known who the shooter was by the ONE dead body!

First of all, you don't "pack" an AK-47. Responsible gun owners would have a small handgun in a holster on them. When the gunman started firing, and all of a sudden bullets start firing back at him, I think he would've panicked a bit and maybe not kept shooting people so easily.

My prayers and thoughts are will the family and friends who lost their loved ones.
They are over 20 million Americans with mental disorders and many more untapped due to lack of healthcare services provided to mentally challenged. Also many do this just for thrill and fame. The issue is much bigger but solution include Ban assault guns, easy and affordable Healthcare access to mentally challenged, awareness and collaboration between communities irrespective of race and culture and media's fair and balance reporting in redefining terrorist which has no religion or culture or face.

If this guy turns out to have been treated for mental illness in the past, that information doesn't turn up in a criminal background check when purchasing a gun due to laws protecting patient privacy. Anyone who has a history of mental illness should not be allowed to own firearms, period. Society's right to protect itself against the mentally ill should outweigh patient rights to privacy when it comes to conducting a thorough background check on someone before they can purchase a weapon. One news report stated that Holmes' mother's first words to a reporter were, "you've got the right guy." His background check should not have come back clean when he was amassing this stockpile of weaponry...he may not have a criminal history but the odds are good he has major league mental issues in his background. Protecting society against the mentally insane ought to be a no-brainer, particularly when it comes to who can own a firearm.

Who would of thought 30 years ago there would be cameras on every street corner and inside every public building. Gated comunities and a host of security companies that will make your home a fortress. And now there will be Drones soon for our police to use. When will it end? Will freewill become a enemy?

I like guns. I own a couple. I don't understand why most people have concealed weapons. You say you carry everyday. WHY?

If I lived someplace where I felt I had to carry protection, I would consider moving elsewhere. I used to live near Oakland, CA. I wouldn't walk through there at night because of the risk of getting robbed. But since I don't actually live there, I just don't go there at night. If I did live there, I would move. There aren't that many places in this country where you would need to be armed 24/7, but most people of some means can just leave, rather then fearing for your safety or life everyday.

Ban the guns! Only police personal,FBI, military should have access to GUNS! America is turning out to be third world country with only inbreed criminals! The English shipped all the criminals to Australia, what is America going to do now?

    • Common sense

If a theatergoer would have had a gun very few if any would have died other than the shooter. If police wouldnt have been on hand it would have been far worse. Guns can be machined, they dont have to be bought. Ban em and only the criminals would have them

That's exactly what we need to do. Is outlaw guns to all so that when we do such a thing we will get a cancer similiar to our Drug problem that the country doesn't want to deal with. Crimes rates would drop greatly as more honest courages people care guns to help protect ourselves and maybe sitting beside me the next time this issue happens. Another idea as the victims father said get the cowards off the tv. And only media can help with that. The cowards want attention. Do the opposite and protect each other cowards will be scared not the great people of this country.
