July average tops U.S. temperature record, NOAA says

The July heat wave that wilted crops, shriveled rivers and fueled wildfires officially went into the books Wednesday as the hottest single month on record for the continental United States.

The average temperature across the Lower 48 was 77.6 degrees Fahrenheit, 3.3 degrees above the 20th-century average, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration reported. That edged out the previous high mark, set in 1936, by two-tenths of a degree, NOAA said.

U.S. forecasters started keeping records in 1895. The seven months of 2012 to date are the warmest of any year on record and were drier than average as well, NOAA said.

For a certainty (according to you christianists) the heat that hell gives-off has something to do with global warming?
Do the math. How many 10s of billions of people are burning in hell right now? Surely this extra heat adds to your equation, Mr. christianist Romney and christianist President Obama.

Earth is about to complete 360 * spin of it true north, expect, unexpected for some time, world is not to come to an end but routine changes associates with earth orbit. Wait a little and weather will change.

Why Republicans deny global warning regardless of overwhelming scientific data? First of all most republicans do not put much stock in science, but the main reason is that this would not be good for big business and there is nothing the republicans care about than money. If we were living in the past the Republicans would be saying the earth is flat.

I'm republican and do not deny global warming at all. But answer me this: are you aware of how many times the earth's climate has changed (warming and cooling cycles)? Assuming you are aware of this, of the dozens of times this has occurred, can you say that man was directly responsible? (rhetorical question since man wasn't even evolved for many of them) bottom line is global warming has happened in the past (many times), it may be happening now, and it will happen again in the future. and this does not mean that we are to blame for it.

Warmest July on record since record keeping began. Interpreted "We've decided we can ignore the geological record of many times when it was much warmer in order to create a misleading sensationalist headlline." This is like the the ICE MELTS OFF GREENLAND headline where they pretend it hasn't happened regularly every 150 years for thousands of years per ice core evidence. Or the dire headlines about the wilkins ice shelf breaking off! complete with pictures! OH MY!! Well, actually it breaks off the same way every year. And how bout those himalayas? Ever wonder why you only hear about how terrible things are AFTER something happens? Because the "science" of global warming produces no useful predictions, it is therefore not science at alll therefore requires this sort of sensationalist idiocy in order to maintain funding by keeping it's chokehold on actual science. It is anti-science of the worst emotio-political sort. They first made fools of themselves with their prediction of the worst hurricane season ever back when alll this crap kicked off.

Turned out to be one of the mildest ever. My absolute favorite is the MET's prediction of balmy winter three years in a row and getting CREAMED by Piers Corbyns actual knowledge and SCIENCE allowing him to accurately predict the coldest winter on record. I'm siick of llistening to these idiots and a lot of people are. Oh and by the way, polar bears have been around as a species long enough to have been through SEVERAL complete ice age cycles with bare polar caps and everything THEY"RE NOT GOING EXTINCT BECAUSE OF ICE LOSS!! Dear ice huggers, the definition of an ice age is the precense of persistent land covering ice like the polar caps. It will be a GOOD thing when the ice is gone, because then the ice age will be over. As has happened many times already.

Their are no written history of temperature changes of past old history but hypothesis, lets live through it and record it for future generations, only thing close to it is Mayan calendar, predicting systematic changes.

Do what yo can on your terms, to make your self feel better about Global warming. Otherwise there is nothing you can do but go along for the ride. Put on some sunscreen and enjoy!

There may be a number of natural effects that contribute to global warming however only humans can have some role in helping the situation.

All I know is that it was over 100 degrees today at 9AM and will be 115 or more by this afternoon we will probably brake all records this week.

Just a thought..someone had an interesting post earlier about trends and how you can't just look at 1936 as a point and make any kind of interpretation. You need to look at the data as a whole to determine climate change. But I submit that we don't have near enough data to even do that. 127 years of data becomes like a point when compared to 4.5 billion. Who knows, maybe in the next 127 years things will balance out. I don't think that even the insides of rock formations and predict a weather pattern narrowed to a mere 127 years. We'll have reasons and discussions as to why it's getting colder. Maybe the trees we cut down are insignificant compared to the number that would burn anyway by natural wildfires if man weren't around to help contain them. We are saving and planting lots of trees to, don't forget about that. I apologize, I have no data to back any of this but it just seems to make sense to me. I've got more but this is already to long. Thanks for reading.

I think you hit a key word and it is "Balance". The weather is currently out of balance or in balance depending how anyone wants to look at it. We are in a heat wave in the Northern Hemisphere and in the Southern Hemispere well it is winter and from what I have read it has been pretty cold. Even read it snowed in South Africa a rarity but it does happen. Until things even out, more than likely, the weather is going to have an equal and opposite reaction to what is going on elsewhere on the globe. I did read that somewhere recently and it makes sense based on their winter and our summer. It isn't all about the US, only time will tell as it always does.

Would Global warming have to include the whole globe? Not select countries example U.S. Because it isn't warm everywhere. I'm just saying..

Harmony means balance and of all life foms on earth the human form is the one that is unbalanced, mainly because it needs to transform the natural into the artificial in order to continue to exist.
To deny that man has changed, and continues doing so, the ecological balance of this earth is self destructive.
For man is not "natural" life form, for it must destroy by converting the natural into the artificial in order to exist.
There is no such thing as a recyclable earth, there is no sum gain to rest of lifes forms by the continuence of human existence, at least as they once existed.
It is very doubtfull that anything in way of any known natural disease will erradicate all or even a majority. of population on its own merits!, but due to mankinds artificially induced elements their mutant forms will only become more likely dangerous.
The reflective surface of a man made lake in China due to its vastness does have an impact not on just local but worlds climate, and there are even larger artificial lakes projected for central Africa already under way.
Mankind is paracitic and wil continue to norish itself until first theelements that nurtued the host growth are gone and then suck the last vistages of life from witin itsel.

Most of you can't remember what happened
a week ago, much less be qualified to suggest
the weather or climate changes to global
warming. Some things are what they are,
not because of you... but as a reminder.

The times, they are a changing,

Welcome to the buddy Jesus church of the flower.
There has been a lot of talk about global warming here in our buddy Jesus church. And there has been a lot of talk about heathens burning in hell.
    God works in mysterious ways.
After this evenings bingo tournament we will raffle-off tickets to the Fitty Cent concert, and then go save some homeless people from burning in hell. Everyone needs to do their part to end global warming.

The same people who bought-into the hype and panicked over the natural hole in our ozone layer 20 years ago are now panicked over natural global climate change. And the same men spouting this hype are laughing all the way to the bank.
Ain't that right, Al Gore with your little green car that burns black coal, almost as much coal as one of his mansions' air conditioners.

That's right. "Experts" were telling US that WE burned the hole in our ozone layer. And then we found-out it has been there for millenia, burned into our atmosphere by one single volcano in Antarctica. Not one "expert" apologized or offered to refund our wasted money.
hEy! That's just like the people claiming that UN WEAPONS INSPECTORS lied about Iraqis not having any WMDs leftover from those supplied by the US and Israel. None have apologized for being so DEAD wrong. There used to be over 250,000 christians living in Iraq. But that was before The Christians invaded.
