Prosecutors: 'Anarchist' group of U.S. soldiers aimed to overthrow government

A U.S. soldier laid out an elaborate plot by a group of active and former military members to overthrow the government, telling a southeast Georgia court Monday that he was part of what prosecutors called an "an anarchist group and militia."

Dressed in his Army uniform, Pfc. Michael Burnett spoke in a Long County court about the group of Army soldiers and its role in the December deaths of a former soldier Michael Roark and his teenage girlfriend Tiffany York. Roark, he said, was killed because he allegedly took money from the group and planned to leave.

"I don't know how it got to the point where two people got murdered," Burnett said in court.

Burnett talked about how he and three others accused - Pvt. Isaac Aguigui, Sgt. Anthony Peden and Pvt. Christopher Salmon - had first begun getting together "just going out shooting guns, just guy stuff."

"And then Aguigui introduced me to 'the manuscript,' that's what he called it, a book about true patriots," the soldier said.

The four men became part of a group that aimed "to give the government back to the people," according to Burnett, who admitted that revolution was its goal. They called it FEAR - Forever Enduring Always Ready, and spent thousands buying guns and bomb parts.

The government needed a change, Burnett told the court. "I thought we were the people who would be able to change it."

Assistant District Attorney Isabel Pauley said it was "unknown" how many others belonged to the group. She identified Aguigui as the leader of what she described as "an anarchist group and militia" that included active and former troops.

"Defendant Aguigui actively recruited new members at Fort Stewart and targeted soldiers who were in trouble or disillusioned," she said.

At the time of their arrest, group members had plotted a number of "acts of domestic terror," the prosecutor said.

Someone obviously does not know what the definition of "anarchy" is. The definition of anarchy is NON EXISTANT GOVERNMENT.

      Mmmmm,
Any "ism" is put in place to be spoken about as a means to cause division, no matter the group and is no virtue. "Isms" are a tool the oligarchy have perfected since the beginning of man to point to differences, exploit those differences and reap the benefits on collecting from those differences. NO MORE ISMS!

"To give the government back to the people" is the definition of DEMOCRACY, but the government wants control over the people and that is defined as a DICTATORSHIP. ANARCHY is when.government does not exist.

I'm not the one who needs to go back to school, I know exactly what JFK meant when he said "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country." I also know exactly what Thomas Jefferson meant wjen he said "Freedom stops when those who don't work outweigh those that do work." and "Tyranny is when the citizens fear the government but freedom is when the government fears the citizens." Is your president and his liberal left wing media really that stupid? Are you that stupid? Or are they trying to destroy America by "fumdamentally transforming" the greatest nation on earth? The mote your radical president destroys our rights and our exceptional form of government, the more of these militants you will see. Maybe ypu need to go back to school, but I see what's wromg with the pictire.

      Hamsta.
If you live here in the United States, (as I know you do), President Obama is *your* President, also, whether you voted for him or not.
Just as Romney will be *my* President also, should he be elected, whether I vote for him or not.

@hamsta...jfk and tj are just men...lucky for us this country isn't movtivated by FEAR as much as it is motivated in principles...great civic heroes and founding fathers were men of principles not fear...propagandas are based on fear rather than fact...and really are sinister campaign slogans that love to take truth out of context to discredit long standing credibility...i would also recommend you avoid any mediums that employ such delusional drumrolls...which seems to be the order of the day...

This is a concerted effort to "get the story out" about "rouge" active duty and veterans who do not fall blindly in line with policy agenda. This is, in my opinion, a calculated response to make supporters look like "conspiracy theorist's" because of the gov'ts illegally detaining and falsifying charges against the growing number of good, sane, non-medicated combat veterans who speak out and question the almighty government ala Brandon Raub. I am not fooled and your unmesmerising attempt at further propaganda is now exposed.

i doubt it...i think meth-lsd-ecstasy houses and gun shows has a direct correlation with anarchists, gangs and hate groups ...drugs and guns is always a part of the indoctrination
...you kno' they gotta have an illicit business to finance the cause...those groups maybe even the reason for the resurgent of heroin and designer drugs...we need to take home grown terrorists more seriously...

TRAITORS, is a word that comes to mind! DEATH PENALTY another term! BUT wait! I am sure that some, along with the attorney (s) defending these people, are going to say, CRAZY, PTSD, DRUGS, etc.. WHY is it that we always have to find an EXCUSE? The actions of a few bring shame and dishonor for those magnificent, brave, military members that put their lives on the line everyday just so we can continue to post our comments!

The fact that this group sought out troubled and disillusioned soldiers, to me, doesn't speak of any altruism on their part; I am glad they were stopped.
There have always been splinter groups such as these; I suspect there always will be...
Hatred of the government has been around since there have *been* governments.
We could all be living in Utopia and there will be those who aren't satisfied.
    Such is the world.

These terrorists also planned to assassinate President Obama.
calling them anarchists is misleading, they are terrorists and should be dealt with as such. We Americans are also culpable of taking these 'militias' lightly unaware of how well trained and armed they are. They are a potential threat.
Their infiltration in the military is rather alarming.
