Clinton: No sign that Stevens believed he was on an al Qaeda hit list

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Thursday she has "absolutely no information or reason to believe there is any basis" to suggest that U.S. ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens believed he was on an al Qaeda hit list.

The remark came after a source familiar with his thinking told CNN that in the months leading up to his death, Stevens worried about constant security threats in Benghazi and mentioned that his name was on an al Qaeda hit list.

Stevens spoke about a rise in Islamic extremism and al Qaeda's growing presence in Libya, the source said.

The White House, for the first time Thursday, declared the attack that killed Stevens and three other people a terrorist attack.

He wrote you a cable that Al Qaeda of the Maghreb was swarming all over. The intel assessment was that the collapse of Qadafi would usher in pro Al Qaeda eastern tribes to fill the vacuum. This is typical democrat no-responsibility: Clinton: I'm in charge, but Arab Spring bringing in worse salafists everywhere it occurred isn't my fault. Holder: I'm in charge, but I had no idea what my subordinates were doing. Obama: I'm in charge, but it's not my fault my five trillion dolars of spending have only resulted in sustained high unemployment, lowest labor force participation in history, and highest food stamp dependency ever.

Conservatives are like the US Navy: It's your ship, your in charge, if you run it aground you're relieved of command.

Liberals are like the Costa Concordia, whose captain was the first off the ship cell phone calling his momma, "It's not my fault!" Let's just party, trying is good enough and results don't matter, tax and spend, blame Bush.

I like your Naval analogy, except Bush ran the US aground with his WMD in Iraq and oh, say his response to Katrina among other navigational errors. Obamas' gotta few miscalculations in judgement too.

    • The REAL Truth...

You have a very distorted view of the world friend. While I have no issues with your Naval analogy, it certainly does NOT hold true in Republican (not conservative) circles. If it were, I guess Dubya was relieved of his command, or should have been far sooner that he was. After – $1.47 TRILLION deficit, an $850 BILLION TARP bailout, $6.4 TRILLION added to the National Debt, LIED to the American people over WMD in Iraq, TWO UNFUNDED WARS and 700,000 jobs a month being lost at the end of 2008 should warrant being relieved.
What is amazing is the right wing believes that the ship that Dubya grounded a la Concordia (the USA) that Obama has been righting and re-floating, is happening fast enough, and the lemmings think the grounding is his fault ??????

Its "war'. Those we are fighting would want to strike back in regions which are already under strife. Ghaddafi's ouster saw Libya turn into another Somalia. something like this was waiting to happen.
Al-qaeda got one up when the 'rebels' there were aided and abetted by Western powers and we see the same unfolding in Syria.

Heritage, perhaps. Candidate Romney: Immigration Policy of Interest

Update Romney roots 2012. Romney Anglo-Saxon? A Rumney?
It is as likely as not that Mitt Romney's roots are Rumnichal, Romanichal.
Look at the history. DNA? Would that narrow the choices?
    Small swab, please, Mitt.

George- Agree 100% . Apology and appeasement when dealing with terrorist is not good foreign policy. Any sign of weakness from a leader in the free world is just asking for attacks from the radical groups.
