'All clear' given at Canadian Embassy in Washington

[Updated at 10:50 a.m. ET] People are being allowed back into the Canadian Embassy in Washington after police have given the "all clear" after a report of a suspicious package inside.

[Posted at 10:02 a.m. ET] The Canadian Embassy in Washington has been evacuated and surrounding streets are being closed after a suspicious package was found inside, Washington police said.

Police said an envelope with a white substance was found.

A law enforcement team that deals with chemical, biological and hazardous materials was at the scene, police spokesman Araz Alali said.

The 400 to 600 blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue have been closed.

If it turns out to be Anthrax I wonder, will the GOP and the media just forget it and never mention it again and claim Obama kept us safe from terrorist attacks like they did with Bush and the Anthrax attacks that happened under his watch? But, of course, no one in the media or the GOP will dare to say that Obama kept us safe from another terrorist attack despite it being one of the main things they claim Bush didn't fail at.

Hey it looks like I'm first.

Possible results for the "white substance" when the test results come back:

    – Powdered sugard from donuts.
    – Snow from NHL ice.
    – Crystallized maple syrup.
    – Salt for melting sidewalk ice.

Later today, the Canadian Embassy will apologize for the inconvenience they caused. Us Canadians say sorry a lot.

Times have changed. It used to be, if you wanted to clear a building, you would have to phone in a bogus bomb threat. Now, you just need to mail an envelope full of foot powder in.
