Petraeus to testify on Benghazi in front of House panel this week

Former CIA Director David Petraeus will testify Friday before the House Intelligence Committee about the September attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, the committee announced Wednesday.

Petraeus had been scheduled to testify before Congress this week, but his testimony was in question after he resigned last week as CIA director over an extramarital affair.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California and chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said on Tuesday that she hoped Petraeus would also address her panel as early as Friday.

The September 11 attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya. Some Republicans have criticized the administration's response to the attack and have speculated that the timing of Petraeus' departure may have been linked to the congressional inquiry.

Well skel, yes. I am a republican. A blue collar republican at that. And most likely I'm the dirt under your heels also. Republicans, like Democrats are my no means "perfect". Cause if we were, we would not be at each others throats, OK? I will not defend Ryan at this, just because he's a Republican, but I will not defend Ryan if he's plumb wrong. The man has a right to defend himself, and offer "a viable reason" for turning down increased security. This we both will see.

Sure, he'll testify. But since he doesn't have a high level government job any more, I doubt he'll be too co-operative.

bombo- I think Petraeus already has a full plate, and he's not going to perj, as that would bring more issues.

    Jeff Frank:
What I understand is that no matter what happens, Obama will be blamed for it...and it gets tedious, tiring, and downright irritating that there is such divisiveness in this country that our politicians cannot work together for the common good of Americans.
The problems facing the country do not have a (D) or a (R) assigned soley to it, it is a snowballing of problems that began YEARS, DECADES back; I get SO BLOODY tired of hearing that it is one man's fault, when it has been decades f shady dealings and bad policies that have gotten us to where we are.
The false idea that only people who vote GOP believe in God is equally as absurd, and that drum is getting beat to death, also...time for that fallacy to stop.
You know what will help our budget?
Ending the wars and not staring any others....WE CANNOT AFFORD THEM!
I realize it is easiest for people to blame the dude in the WH, because THEY didn't vote for him, but guess what?
This bloody country was bankrupt before the was elected in 2008, when defense spending was HIDDEN by the previous administrations...
    So divisive, and so pathetic.
Whatever path this country is going down, pinning it on ONE MAN is just as stupid as pinning it on God. Just dumb.

No I don't care for Obama, but at the same time he shouldn't be held accountable, if he IS making a concerted effort with all involved that are capable of change, regardless of political affiliation. Because like I said all will suffer despite thier affiliation.

Anyone know who will be sitting on the House panel? Maybe they should provide a translator for those Republicans who don't speak plain English.

I warned you bobcat, when you said you were retiring, to be careful what you asked for cuz you just might get it. Conditioning is a hard thing to break and when you are used to living one way and it suddenly all changes its very hard to adjust.

Does anyone else wonder where the red white and blue is from the white house. Why is our president not proud of our nation and not salute our flag.
