Sources: Broadwell's security clearance suspended

Paula Broadwell, whose affair with CIA Director David Petraeus led to his resignation, has had her government security clearance suspended pending the outcome of ongoing investigations, two U.S. officials with direct knowledge told CNN's Barbara Starr.

A U.S. official previously said that Broadwell, an Army Reserve officer, did have some kind of security clearance.

Petraeus resigned from his CIA director post last week after an FBI investigation revealed he had an extramarital affair, an investigation that also prompted questions about whether his paramour, Broadwell, had inappropriate access to classified information.

Investigators have found classified information on a computer belonging to Broadwell, a law enforcement source told CNN national security contributor Fran Townsend. It was not clear if this was a computer seized at her home Monday night or one she had previously given to authorities when she cooperated back in September.

Earlier, John Nagl, a retired military officer who worked for Petraeus for years, said that Petraeus insists he never shared classified information with Broadwell. He spoke to him via e-mail on Monday and was authorized by Petraeus to talk.

Check out this story for more details on the investigation.

King's College London needs to strip her degree becasue she violated human subject protection in her research. She clearly took advantage of her subject and even destoryed his career, so for what, a book? She is the most unethical researcher I have known in recent time. She put academic to shame.

Yep, if her school lets her slide on this one. I think all the IRB around the world will be shock. King's will be well known for producing unethical scientists and researchers.

TO Col Hogan: Wow! That's classy ... excuse away his bad behavior and blame his wife! To paraphrase Sgt. Shultz, "You know nothing!"

It doesn't matter what kind of clearance she had, it's called 'need to know' and I doubt she really needed to know!

Reminds me of a song..."Let the sideshow begin, hurry, hurry, step right on in..."

This is smoke and mirrors to allow the CinC some breathing room on Libya.

What kind of person are you that the concept of love, devotion, faithfulness and truthfulness to one's marriage promises are nothing more than empty words that can be thrown away when life becomes less pleasant? An empty shell of a human being, that is what you show yourself to be.

That's a remarkably simplistic idea, especially considering you have no real insight into the people involved. Sometimes it happens. It's probably a sign of weakness of character in many cases. In others perhaps not. Many people endure marriages that should be ended and it takes "an affair" to open their eyes. Don't christians say something about not judging and a "mile in their shoes"? Good advice.

Right...and under the U.C.M.J., she stands to lose her Commission. Stupidity has no bounds. (and that goes for the General, as well).

Taking away her security clearance is outrageous. So, she slept with a general, and blabbed a secret. If she had slept with Bill Clinton, or Hillaryl, it would have been OK, and blabbing secrets is the practice, not the exception, with the Obama administration. If she was black, the Black Caucus and the ACLU would be screaming.

Have those of you responding to "Col Hogan's" comment heard and or watched " Hogan's Heroes"? I really don't think Col Hogan is legitimate and if he is then he is a disgrace to all military officers.

Jeff: You wrote that "Col. Hogan" was "a disgrace to all military officers." Col. Hogan's comment about Mrs. Petraeus was irreverent and tacky, but, on the other hand, true and a bit amusing. His offense? He wrote an unkind truth. I'm unable to find disgrace in that.
