Israeli envoy in Egypt for talks on Gaza cease-fire

[Updated 2:16 pm. ET] An Israeli special envoy arrived in Egypt for talks with Egyptian intelligence chief Mohammed Shehata, who is trying to bring about a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, the Egyptian government said Sunday.

[Updated 11:22 a.m. ET] The Israeli military killed Yehiya Bia, one of the heads of Hamas' rocket-launching unit, in a targeted strike Sunday in Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces said. Hamas did not immediately confirm the report.

[Posted 7:08 a.m. ET] Israeli artillery flew into Syria early Sunday after rounds coming from Syria struck an Israeli army patrol in the Golan Heights, the Israel Defense Forces said.

The IDF reported no deaths or injuries, but said one military vehicle was damaged.

Israel said it did not know whether Syrian government or rebel forces fired the rounds that landed in the Golan Heights.

As of Sunday morning, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency had not reported on such back-and-forth firing.

I am totally against a cease fire. I strongly support a war and hopefully the Ruskies...Chinese and Americanskis stick their nose in it.

As long as we don't know. All is fine out there, keep it up you brave IDF guys.
Stand firm in the face of the Palestinian military might, their combat aircraft and tanks and missiles and warships. Or they would run over your country.

As long as we're being sarcastic.

Better yet IDF, just don't respond at all. Don't defend your country because those rockets don't usually hit anything anyway. You don't need to fire back. A few deaths in your country don't mean anything. Just let them keep firing those rockets.

Irony here is that the underlying cause of these so called border Wars is not so much about religion, it's about property and land. It's a war of the have some (land) against the people who have none, both sides using religious tapestry to justify their claims.

Your proposed solution reminds one of the sentiments heard in germany in the 1930's. You've come a long way! Huh?

I hope we can get a real ceasefire. Better still, follow it with meaningful peace negotiations.
