Report: Pussy Riot member asks for solitary confinement

One of the members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot serving a two-year prison sentence has asked to be transferred to solitary confinement because of "strained relations" with other inmates, state media reported Friday.Maria Alyokhina, 24, and fellow band member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 23, were sentenced in August for performing a song critical of President Vladimir Putin in one of the Russian Orthodox Church's most important cathedrals in February.
They are serving their sentences at a penal colony in Perm, about 1,000 kilometers (700 miles) east of Moscow.

She can't get early release if she's in protective custody. I saw that on The Learning Channel.

These women are freedom fighters who did nothing wrong other than singing about their beliefs in the public square of a harsh regimented, oppressive society. Putin's government treats its people like prisoners in transparent jail cells.

They should just lay back and let the penal system have it's way with them.

Nancy, why are you assuming they are lesbians? One of them was married with children. Not sure if the others are married or not. What i would like to know is, first there were 3 sentenced, but l was released on appeal. Why werent the other 2 released?

The other two probably were mean girls. They musta acted up while in custody. If I ever get arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police I'm gonna be polite and not act up.

Prisoners ask for lots of stuff. They just don't get it. Right or wrong, these women knew the consequences of their protests and should be willing to accept them!
