A worker at the federal courthouse in Birmingham, Alabama, shot himself in the head Thursday, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
The man walked into the chief clerk's office at the Hugo Black U.S. Federal Courthouse "mumbling about a will. He then put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger," CNN affiliate WBMA reported, citing a source inside the courthouse. The FBI confirmed the source's report, WBMA said.

What they aren't saying here, because it would temper the alarmist response and thousands of page views – it was a single victim suicide attempt. No other people were harmed.
This whole gun thing is way out of control. We not even allowed to discuss the problem – it is beyond pathetic.
Court Officer shot himself in courtroom. Someone probably told him about the end of the world next week. I feel so sorry for his family and friends if he died. If he did not, they need to put him in the rubber room until they figure out what caused him to blow a fuse like he did. This could have been worse if he started shooting people or caused the plolice to start shooting and hit inocent bystanders.
All the courthouses have metal detectors at the entry that I ever been in! Why not this one?

Oh one other thing. It seems that all these new federal security officers did a WONDERFUL job of stopping a man from bringing a firearm into a federal courthouse. Government FAIL
He was an employee. They aren't subjected to the same security that standard patrons are subjected to. I'm familiar with that courthouse and it has really tight security.
The media prints any negativestory, just add the word "gun" since that's the government agenda next year.
The only agenda I can see is the NRA's. When gun sales are stagnant an editorial or two about the government limiting guns, ammo or clips sure helps spike sales. The friggin' government has got too much on its plate than to worry about gun owner rights! Jeez!

Good thing guns are so easily available in Alabama, huh? I mean, you can pick up a 6 pack of beer and a hand gun so easily. Nope, no gun control laws needed here, huh?
LOL I can say the same thing bout Chicago, which has one of the highest murder rates in the country, yet has some of the strictest gun laws. Good thing guns are so inaccessible, we need more gun laws in chicago to stop the murders.
