      It's the holiday season and many people get very depressed each time it comes around and for some reason see no sense in living. Suicide is OK.........but killing others first is just plain selfish. This has happened every Christmas in my 73 years. Ask psychologists to explain why.

      The peak time for suicides is actually late spring/early summer according to the non-profit organization rainbow access–they have a graph showing the incidence during each month. One thing that has been shown to be true across cultures and across countries is that depression peaks in mid-life (mid to late 40's for women and early 50's for men–probably due to hormonal changes during those times).

      My grandmother committed suicide at age 49 in January. Whatever the month, it is always devastating for the families. My deepest condolences.

      Now we finaly hear the truth from the guntrol crowed, Round up the dissidents!

      Now, where in history have we seen this pattern take place. Ah yes, these very same events have coincided with every tyranical take over in modern history, which ends with the murder of millions of those that were rounded up.

      And you want my guns.

      For those of you who are blaming the NRA for this, would you please lay out your thinking process step-by-step so that I can see how you are arriving at this conclusion? It's amazing. I'd like to do research into this. I think there's a thesis for a master's degree here. Please lay this all out for me. Start with the article's headline and then progress step by step. Please don't leave anything out. This is really critical.

    @Rob,
    It's only "always been going on" in the US. Have a look at gun deaths in other countries and you will see there is a better approach to your gun-reliant culture.

    Oh, yes... gun control would have stopped this murder/ suicide. People are hopeless today. No job, low paying job, house foreclosed, high taxes, unfaithful spouses, etc.

    Smaller type shootings happen all the time..... it's just now unfortunately 'popular' with the media so you'll see more coverage. Sad but yet again, the media is whoring it up with the relevant stories.
