I'm just wondering when there will be a "Vehicle Policy Initative", and when the people will start going after car enthusiasts because of all the deaths vehicles cause? Maybe there will be a ban on vehicles being mfg for a few years as to not not cause unnecessary deaths or pollution!
I suppose that may happen the next time a car enters a school and slaughters 20 six and seven year-olds.
Wéll, I suppose that could happen the next time a car breaks into a school and kills a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds.
Automobiles are primarily designed and used for transportation and when misused can cause death and injury. Guns are primarily designed and used to kill and disable things and whether they're misused or not... can cause death and injury.
@bansy
That will happen when they ban weapons.
Find a practical use for a gun besides killing people. A use for which there is no practical alternative.
You can't, can you.
Zoom........that's the sound of of my comment flying over you head!
It's the same argument that people use all the time when the topic of gun control comes up.
It's disengenuous to use that argument, because it's apples and oranges.
I do not see the need for rapid-fire automatic weapons or assault weapons, but you clearly do.
Whatever.
I don't see a need for, porches, ferrarri, maserati either since there's no place you can drive 170mph.
Oh wait, cars don't kill
Speed kills
"Zoom........that's the sound of of my comment flying over you head!"
Cute, but not accurate. It's just Orwellian doublethink on your part. Of course you don't notice it.
The problem in the states is the people in the states. Its not gun control, government or "call of duty". Its stupid people having kids and raising them to be just as stupid as them. Simple.
Agreed, for 3 generations now, the majority of american people are dumber than the last generation. Bring back child discipline and this would stop.
Not exactly. There are stupid people and psychopaths in every country. We have plenty in Canada. The difference is that in the US, a psychopath can get lethal weaponry far more easily, and therefore kill dozens of people rather than one or two.
Last time I checked there are a million different ways to kill someone.....not just guns...you could just as easily do that here in Canada. Mental illness or not.
Plus what normal family goes to the nearby gun range after church on Sunday?...the mother is to blame as well
An apt anology @ RW&B ??
Good morning @banasy
The time is for a sensible approach to sensible gun laws not ridicule efforts in that direction.
Giving this gun control issue to Biden is just kicking the can down the road! Granted the President has a full pot of issues boiling now....I'm sure there are more qualified and respected non politicos to call on! This is not a political issue. This is an American problem!
Can one leave aside the fact that the Executive Branch is not supposed to legislate?
That the holder of Office is not to dictate policy to Congress no matter the passions of the populace at large.
The principles by which we are supposed to be governed under are no longer inforce nor enforced and remarkably the conditions today are the vert ones our founding originators warned against.
This new state that is being emplaced uses emotions, manipulated emotional responses to become ever more seperate from the masses and gathering all future powers in its central body.
Lets just hope that this issue doesn't turn into a political circus with NRA weighing in with their " meaningful contributions".
@Portland tony@banasy
Apt response to @RW&B's analogy.
Sorry to pop the lib/pogessive bubble heads but it is the people with guns who are most apt to support government from civil unrest than the anti-firearm.
It is not they the government are preparing to monitor and place under severe economic and social reorganizing that much like the spoiled brats began the occupy movement to get more from government than what goverent has to give.
The number of "0fficialy Recognized" State Militia groupings is growing and they are under Homeland Security. Control as National Guard and regular State and Federal back up or Reserves.
Mainly the ranks are filled by ex military and retired fed or state employees.
They are toprotect the state in cases of civil unrest caused just possibly by this so called fiscal cliff and all the cuts ineconomic welfare programs to mainly the middle class.
The mid to high middle are the most unstable and dependent upon fed assistance in nation, not the poor working class.
It's just funny that when this all happened the rifle was found in his car, now it was the only firearm used. Huh, how soon we forget. Thanks cnn for changing the whole story.
Media newspeak uses "gradualism" to manipulate populaces perceptions of an actual event that has political as well as vast social implications.
Rapid hype and then gradualy they proportion truth into spin, as they did for the government during build up for Iraq war and then spun it slowly down into a far different reasoning forits being and in doing so protectthe miscreants and their bottom lines as well.
No different than last women health issue or as in Lybia and domesticly Trevor Martin event.
I wish there is something like the 2. Amendment in Norway
If you really ARE Anders Behring Breivik, in jail for murdering all those promising young people, then go to hell for it.
If you are NOT him, then I think you are a mentally sick person, like he himself is.
Yeah, let's get rid of high power weapons!
Hello @ Mickeyl3l3, i agree young people today are awful disrespectful ! I know this stuff woulda been tolerated not for one minute by my parents, nor none of my friends parents!
There is no. 2nd Amendment guarantee to owning any specific weaponry nor has the supreme court ruled against the right to own a weapon but added government can restrict as to type.
Original intent has no bearing today as there is no longer a populace of a mindset that formed this nations founding principals.
The populace has decided they want a more european style of social ordering.
OWNING a wespon is still necessary for personal defence as there is a populace who cannot take personal responsability to defend themselves and many just willing to use and abuse them.
Any government will suit them as they also have no independent will.
