[Updated at 2:11 p.m. ET] President Barack Obama on Friday nominated Sen. John Kerry, the former presidential candidate who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to be the next secretary of state.
The senior senator from Massachusetts is noted for the experience, gravitas and relationship-building skills that could help him succeed Hillary Clinton, the outgoing top U.S. diplomat.
Kerry (pictured) has traveled the globe on behalf of the Obama administration to mend frayed relationships. Most notably, he traveled to Pakistan after a series of incidents, including the raid that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, that had set relations back.
He has support from Republicans as well as Democrats. The nomination will be sent to the Senate for confirmation.
"There are very few people with greater experience over a longer period of time," said Nicholas Burns, a former career ambassador who has served every secretary of state since Warren Christopher, and was most recently undersecretary for political affairs under Condoleezza Rice. "He would be a very, very impressive choice."

Neo-cons, Israeli first law makers and Israeli groups are up in arms to bull doze another nomination. Chuck Hagel for Secy.Defense. The 'charges' are that he is not sufficiently pro-Israel.
The America first law makers and other for America groups have also geared up to counter that assault. Let us see which mind set wins.

Used to be against allowing am elected official to vacate their term of office before it is complete other than for corruption of that office,senility, and health or lack there of.
Today about 15% have enough wherewithal to be able to rule and fool the other 80% into thinking they perform a "Public Service" to the millions of clones and drones they onersee.

He's the guy who pretended to throw his combat medals over the White house fence as part of an antiwar protest (in reality he had purchased a bunch of medals in an Army – Navy store, keeping his own, earned or unearned, safe. He's also the war veteran who defied our government and in what should have been deemed an act of treason, went to Paris to meet with the then enemy, North Vietnamese [during Lyndon Johnson's Vietnam War] ..... This is the quality of person John Kerry is, a mealy mouthed, insincere, and devious phoney.

I figured he would nominate George W. Bush, being that President Obama has continued Bush's policies of gagging FBI whistleblowers (Sibel D. Edomonds and 24 DoD officials gagged so-far on 9/11).
Also, Bush's "Israel can do no wrong" foreign policy adopted by President Obama. I mean, how many politicians can you find that look the other way? AND are Skull&Bonesmen like Kerry? Rare.
