Palestinian president orders name changed to 'State of Palestine'

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has signed a decree changing the name of the Palestinian Authority to the "State of Palestine," according to the organization's official news agency.

According to the decree, official stamps, signs and official letterhead will be changed and hold the new name of "the State of Palestine."

Palestinians have long been pushing for official statehood. It was granted "nonmember observer state" status after a vote at the United Nations vote in November.

If you're confused about whether something similar to this has already happened, you can read our explainer, that gives details about what the recent Palestinian moves mean.

They should change the name to "State of Denial" because obviously there is no such thing as a palestinian.

If you're expecting "them" to exhibit logic, you're only going to be frustrated. Their leader is the father of twisting reality to fit his agenda.

Israel was condemned by the US for the settlements. I think Israel is really in the state of denial.

Lol @ Alex, that is quite true, the American statement. Ill hold comment on the other part of your post. Wonder how Netanyahu is gonna react to this? Probably like the *spoiled brat* he is thanks to our government.

I'm sure Netanyahoo will start whining again. He'll probably go to his room and stomp his feet while yelling " It's not fair. it's not fair, it's not fair.
And what's even better is, President Obama is about to nominate Chuck Hagel (another individual who doesn't kow tow to Israel) as Sec.of defense. Gotta love it.

A move in the right direction. Palestinians have been denied their rights for too long always looking at us to act as honest brokers in achieving a two state solution.
There was no state of Israel until the British relinquishing their hold on Palestine, chose to divide the territory & the Zionists unilaterally declared creation of Israel.

Absolutely saywhat. While I do agree with Israels right to defend herself when attacked, I do not condone their obstuctionist ways when refusing to grant the Palestinian state from the freedoms they seek. Also, the choice Of Hagel as Sec. of defense strengthens the presidents hand in tempering the demands Israel attempts to force upon our leaders. It is refreshing to see our government say no to them for a change.

An often overlooked aspect of being recognized by the UN as a State is the protection that comes with being your own nation.
You get access to the ICC !!! (International Criminal Court)

Of course, only nations that plan on obeying international law regarding war crimes and weapons manufacturing would be exited about having access to the ICC or even want to talk about it.

I can understand the Israelis being upset, and I don't support the tactics of Hamas or the Palestinian Authority, that being said Israel would never recognize a Palestinian state in any form, as they believe that they were given the land by god. Palestinian people whether they have a state or not have the right to exist as do the Israelis, these developments that keep going up on land that was guaranteed under 1967 peace treaty to the Palestinian people will have to come down. If might is right then we would all be out there right now taking anything we want and doing anything we want, regardless of who suffers. We teach our children right and wrong, as we have learned ourselves. Without laws that's the chaos we would be living in, for all of the entertainers who have a voice and continue to be silent about what is happening in their religious homeland, you have to wonder, are they right and everyone else is wrong about what is fair and just in the civilized world we live in? Again I know of the terrible things done by the Palestinians, how could you not with every news agency in the world showing all of us. If the Israeli government is not willing to recognize the plight of the people on the other side of the wall then stop with a nickel here and a nickel there until its all gone, just take them all out now and be done with it, because you not fooling anybody in the world and I think the worlds support for the actions of the Israeli government has reached its zenith. Broker a deal and then enjoy the peace that will come with it. Just so you know I don't pray to anybody's god. Mine is a one to one relationship with whatever might be there, or not.

    Peace

You are forgetting terms of the piece agreement. Two states! one Israel and the other, well it could be what we are seeing now in the making, 'State of Palestine'.

See? Nobody wants to talk about the Unternational Criminal Court that Palestinian citizens now have access to. And there is little-wonder why.
Prior to solidifying the occupation of Afghanistan, and prior to the invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq, fmr. President George Walker Bush formally ended the United States of America's membership with the World Court, and the ICC prosecuting war criminals of US.

Every mistake Israel's government has EVER made, was made with impunity.
ISRAEL has been immunized by US church and political leaders from being held accountable to International Law.
It's as stupid as a scientific experiment where one element is allowed to defy the laws of physics. Where only one schoolboy doesn't have to obey the rules. etc, etc, etc...

@observer. Your close relationship with your god reminds me of how close I was with rosie and her four sisters when I was a boy. So close and intimate is this relationship you describe with whatever it is that you imagine.
