After days of controversy surrounding the issue, the U.S. House has approved a bill that would send more than $50 billion in aid to states affected by last fall's Superstorm Sandy.
The bill passed 241-180.
Tuesday evening's vote came two weeks after the House approved a smaller, $9.7 billion package paying for flood insurance claims. It also comes following a controversy that arose because the House leadership did not put a Sandy aid package to vote in the final day of the last Congress. That delay came amid fiscal cliff bickering and consternation over dwindling federal funds.
The bill that the House passed Tuesday will now go to the Senate.
Completely non-partisan................With a 50.5 billion $ aid package it has matched the 3rd most expensive hurricane in US history – what a joke. I lived at ground zero for the 2004 and 2005 hurricane season with Francis, Wilma, an Jean. These were all devistating hurricanes in their own right with monetary distributions abused by the mases (looking for handouts). My wife and I watched our roof bing ripped off our home of 21 years, all memories destroyed (and lost forever). We did not ask for handouts (as MANY did), we take responsibility for our property. We did not ABUSE the system as MANY did seeking handouts for damage that did NOT simply exist. The odd thing was the majority of the $$ paid out tax payers by was in the 75 MPH and below territory (South of Jupiter, FLA but including WPB, Ft Lauderdale, and Miami). Cut the PORK, LEICHES, and LIES the price tag would drop dramatically. Grow up!
The crisis actors paycheck... That's what this is.
I hear you. I was evacuated twice during San Diego's fires. I ended-up at a makeshift campground in the desert, with FEMA agents CONSTANTLY hounding me and mine to sign up!
"Get the heck out of my camp and stop bothering us" I said. But they kept coming back with paperwork for me! Like used car salsemen they were. Like loan officers. Crooked moneychangers at the Temple. Where's MY whip! he he
Most have never seen a FEMA CAMP. WHile being very secretive, there are a few Youtube videos and websites that show and discuss what they really are. (DHS Homeland Security Prisons)
It's not about gun control. It's about the US Military being authorized by President Obama to combat domestic terrorism. Namely, organizations of armed Americans. (commonly called "street gangs", "gangstas", "small minded individuals", "punks with guns and a bag of dope", etc.)
What garbage. Please supply evidence that this is more than your opinion and supposition and a fear mongering tactic by a die hard GOP. Thank you in advance.
Yep. That's what they're for. (DHS prison system) US. Obviously the extra federal prisons built since 9/11 haven't been filled with "terrorists" like Congress and WBush said they were for. Suspected terrorists are killed, or arrested and not allowed legal representation...and held indefinitly. Waterboarded even.
Anyway, the National Defense Authorization Act of congress was signed into law by President Obama on Dec. 31, 2012.
US military has been authorized to kill suspects on US soil. Namely, armed gangstas.
Organized gangsters are well-know suspects. We suspect them of murdering thousands of US citizens yearly. Rayping thousands of helpless women and girls each and every year.
The only thing these organized gangs don't don't do worse than other accepted organizations is raype underaged males. Our religious orgs are No.1 in that catergory.
Never mind. I see you are on a full tilt fear ride of epic proportions. The paranoid express is here, hop on. Have a nice evening.
I am glad that they approved funds for Sandy. Too bad it has so much pork built into it.
