Saxby Chambliss, the Republican senator from Georgia, will not seek re-election in 2014, a GOP source said today.
A conservative voice in the upper chamber since 2002, Chambliss recently drew the ire of some activists to his right who took issue with his support for bipartisan compromise. He was a member of the "Gang of Six," which tried in 2011 to strike a bipartisan deal on reducing the federal debt. For more on this story, read CNN's Political Ticker.
If one thought of doing something, and one did not do it, the thought of doing would be the same of doing it.
When one uses one often in a sentence, one can make most things sound profound.
Sex scandals in politics make good money in books written by politations, reserve you copy now before they are sold out. What a racket!!
Cnn stop blocking
Sex scandals and politics , is a money maker when books are published
He is leaving because he compromised folks. The right does not like it when Washington finally works. Compromise the dirty word for republicans, we have been stagnant for 4 years, he should be patted on the back for doing what is expected of him, move our govenment to solutions not obstructionism.
I have to wonder if Grover Norquist has anything to do with his decision to retire...
Sadly you are right. I have been a registered Republican for many years, and this current party is horrible. It is filled with too many radicals who are living in la la land, and refuse to realize not all of us are going to follow like blind little drones.
Yeah he got wealthy off the public money, now he wants to retire with all the other perks he doe'snt deserve.
He's tired of the right wing radicals who have taken the GOP over the sanity cliff.
Hopefully every other Republican will follow suit.
We can only hope, and this is coming from a FORMER Republican.
This guy just sees the writing on the wall. He just doesn't want to be associated with another trashing of the Neanderthal party.
Good, and take the rest of the right-wing extremists with you!
Sure, maybe you will be happy if all the Republicans will be gone from the government so that the Democratic Party can have absolute power and turn our country in a happy go lucky Europe. Can't wait to see when the Democratic will come up with an elaborate skim to have a mandated "Enviornmental Tax" on all electrical equipment and cars produced and sold in the USA, just like Canada.
Vote them all out
Hopefully a lot of other senators will follow suit and maybe even the President. We can only hope.
Thank You President Barack Hussein Obama and Joe Biden for the excellence you have given this great Country, Hail To The Chief for another FOUR YEARS...Thank You and Amen
Mitch McConnell PLEASE STEP DOWN, and all the rest of you derelicts.
