Sri Lanka will limit the amount of women that go to Saudi Arabia to work as housemaids as outrage continues over Saudi Arabia's beheading of a Sri Lankan teen.
Officials this week raised the minimum age for female domestic workers so that no women under the age of 25 would be allowed to go to Saudi Arabia to work as a maid, said Keheliya Rambukwella, a government spokesman.
What difference is age possibly going to make?
She was executed because she apparently caused the death of an infant. She was said to be 17 when the crime occurred. Perhaps being 25 gives a maid more experience in feeding infants.
A 17 year old kid, think about how much she can be manipulated and intimidated where no legal support is available in a country where language is different, culture is different.
I think 25 seems good age to start with.
I don't think any age should be working there. Due process?? I think not.....
This is backward
society. They live in dark ages .
