Detroit traffic pileup kills 3, injures 15-20

A chain-reaction accident Thursday on Interstate 75 killed at least three people and injured 15-20 others in Detroit, state police said.

The accident started shortly before 9 a.m. over the Rouge River Bridge, said Robert Morosi of the Michigan Department of Transportation. At least 30 cars were involved in the pileup, he said.

Snow was falling at the time of the crash, Morosi said, describing conditions as a "typical Michigan winter morning."

The jaws of life were used to pull people out of three vehicles, State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said.

how you draw a parallel between a weather event and an act of aggression by humans is inconceivable.

Tom and Kevin are so angry about background checks & keeping track of mass killing weapons,
you have to wonder if they have felony records, or public mental health records.

Was 35 cars and 3 children dead and 1 adult and 20 injurrys. And not typical because yesterday was nearly 60 degrees and was raining last nite then temps dropped to 26 degrees and its very windy and snowing now.

NOT a typical Michigan morning. This was a white out, I was on another freeway when this snow white out took place. One moment, normal dry roads, windy but normal, within seconds, you could not see the front end of your car. Been driving 27 years in Michigan and this has never happened to me. I slowed down and got off the freeway. The roads became instantly slippery and icy, with the cold and winds. Sad day. Prayers to the families that lost their loved ones this morning.

My son was a semi driver in that accident. It was the icy roads that caused it.

No such thing as 'typical' in Michigan, regardless of the calendar. We have a saying: 'Don't like the weather, wait five minutes'. It changes suddenly at times and with devastating results.

Piers Morgan is an idiot that does not let people talk. He interupts them if he disagrees with them. I cannot believe he is allowed in this country or has a job with cnn. What a joke. Hey Piers , I come from Missouri, why do you not come down here and learn some manners. I do not need a gun to teach your ass some common manners. Go back to your stupid country.

The cars are driven by people even in bad weather. If the people would slow down and pay attention to the laws there would be less accidents. Other words put the phones down. Its funny how people over look these things because it pertains to them. How many people have died because of cell phones and driving but I guess that easy to overlook isnt it. Just a bunch of hippoccrates.

They are reporting that the cars were only driving 30-35 at the time because of the road conditions. Folks were trapped in their cars until the injured were taken to area hospitals. My prayers go to the families of the deceased and to the injured folks.

Not a problem @ Ryan, you confirmed what i said. And it is typical in northern michigan but most definitely not in southern michigan. And its still not confirmed whether all the deaths were from one car or several.

Ken, when you don't know anything, it is better to keep you mouth shut.
There are 5 million people living in Metro Detroit.

Michigan is surrounded by fresh water. Out of all the water on Earth, only 2.5–2.75% is fresh water, including 0.01% of it as surface water in lakes, swamps and rivers. Freshwater lakes contain about 87% of this fresh surface water, including 21% in the North American Great Lakes.

Michigan, Water Wonderland & Great Lakes. Grand Bays & Big Islands. Superior Waters.
