First it was monkeys in space (or not) and now it’s “GI Joe” fighter jets. Not the best of times for Iran’s aviation and aerospace programs, at least if you listen to the skeptics.
First there were doubts about Tehran’s claim it sent a monkey into space in late January. After photos of two different monkeys that were aboard the alleged one-monkey space shot surfaced, Iran media said there was a photo mix-up and, yes, there was just one Iranian monkey in space.
Then this week Iran unveiled what it said was its new high-tech stealth fighter plane. The jet shown in pictures on the website of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been the butt of jokes all week from aviation bloggers.
“This aircraft looks a lot like an old GI Joe toy,” wrote one blogger.
And from another, “This has to be a joke, right?”

I think the 8 track tape player is the give away
But can it blend?!
The Nazi Germans were the first to develop the atomic bomb, the jet fighter, and long range missiles.
Dr. Van Braun a Nazi engineer was responsible for launching John Glenn into orbit. America has been
stealing inventions from other countries since 1776.
Iran can steal the Bill of Rights from us if it wants; it just has to make use of it, like we did with the rocket.
Why be the first when you can be the Best?
and tedD has been stealing his mother's breast milk since day one...
Um...okay? Where are you going with this, tedD? Are you trying to make that jet feel better about itself because it looks dumb as all getout?
Oh yes, the Nazi's invented everything, yet they for some reason held it all back because they wanted to be defeated. Take off your tin foil hat and shove it where the sun don't shine.
Maybe we liberally borrow ideas from others, but we make them bigger, better and we USE them.
.....as my uncle used to say: If they (Iranian Airforce) said it is a jet fighter, then it must be, but can it fly? How about that monkey? Is it still alive?
There's no propeller, so it must be a jet. But then, there's no air intake either..?
Good call....where the hell's the intake!?!?!
I don't see any latch to keep the canopy from flying off at speed. With the intakes placed where they are, pitching up will be a sloooow process, making take-offs difficult, and combat maneuvering impossible.
No worries! It's already flying at maximum design speed in the pictures, so the canopy won't fly off.
The pilot must be one of Iran's new super giant pilots they have developed...hence the reason why "he no fit in the tiny plane."
The crew consists of 3 guys and a goat. Or is it 3 goats and a guy?
Man I hope this is a mock up. Small cheap looking. I seriously question the decision of the inverted winglets or whatever they are. Dihedral wing tips? Short span not much wing area. I suppose it is to be fly by wire? More I look at it the more it is totally wrong. I guess we can expect photo shopped pictures of 150000 of them flying in formation soon.
Next season on Mythbusters – Grant and Tori will build an exact replica of the Qaher-313 and Kari will fly it while Jamie and Adam try to shoot it down with a Project Babylon supergun.
Or a slingshot.
It's definitely stealth too. I can't see it flying
OK, there has to be a prize to the first person that guesses which aircraft the landing gear came from.
The fred flinstone yabba dabba 32s.
The landing gear game from the Drone they captured. I bet this thing can fly at warp 9 also.
You guys are just too critical and look for all the flaws. i RAN after all is the world leader in the A RAB world.
If they put a "1" in front of the "313", they can call it the "Munster".
Lol, The 1313 Mocking-Bird
lol!! Now THAT is funny.
I find it interesting how many Aerospace Engineers have suddenly appeared in the US. Oh, wait... those aren't engineers; those are just people making comments on various websites on the Internet. It is rather sad when a news website puts put up an article that only repeats gossip and hearsay stated by people that have no training in that field.... and then aforementioned website puts the 'article' in the 'featured' section. I would hardly this 'featured' news.
This is a prop. The biggest clue that tells me it's fake is the "canopy". Notice how the 'bubble' extends far above the fuselage, and has no structure or framework whatsoever. A mere pigeon could hit this thing in flight and take the canopy right off along with the pilot's head. (Don't bother deabting this – I have worked in the defense undustry AND I live in Hollywood, work in production now). Iran is being lead by an inbred fool, and he's determined to get himself bombed. The people of Iran need to run him out for their own survival, as well as for the sake of peace and sanity.
Oops – "debating" sp
