Iran's Qaher-313 fighter plane

Iran's newest warplane something from 'GI Joe?'

First it was monkeys in space (or not) and now it’s “GI Joe” fighter jets. Not the best of times for Iran’s aviation and aerospace programs, at least if you listen to the skeptics.

First there were doubts about Tehran’s claim it sent a monkey into space in late January.  After photos of two different monkeys that were aboard the alleged one-monkey space shot surfaced, Iran media said there was a photo mix-up and, yes, there was just one Iranian monkey in space.

Then this week Iran unveiled what it said was its new high-tech stealth fighter plane. The jet shown in pictures on the website of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been the butt of jokes all week from aviation bloggers.

“This aircraft looks a lot like an old GI Joe toy,” wrote one blogger.

And from another, “This has to be a joke, right?”

Cheap and expendable, the perfect ride for an Islamic Fanatic intent on suicide (With the Glory and Virgins that come along with it.). Where have we seen this concept before? WWII in the Pacific comes to mind.

If he ever ejects he'll break his neck. Also notice the avionics. That blue cable looks like standard cat5e networking cable. Did they buy this stuff from Best Buy?

The landing gear and wheelswould barely support a shopping cart in a Jewel food store, much less take-off and landing of a warplane

ok, not fan of IRAN but this article is sad, quoting bloggers about what they see in a picture??? really? this is journalism not worthy of a 5th grader. And if Psycological intelligence propaganda the we need better colleges– very sad in all perspectives.. cause if Iranians are this incopetent why worry about any of their tech even nuclear??

Except that they happen to be accurately pointing out flaws in the construction. Just look at the shot from in front and above. The "instruments" have wires hanging out the back. Have you EVER seen an aircraft that had wires hanging out of the back of things??? They aren't even properly tie wrapped. No first year aircraft mechanic would ever leave avionics in such a condition in a Cessna 152.

Iran just sent their first muslim monkey into space, which would be cool if it was 1950, and Ahma-jihad wants to be the second muslim monkey sent into space.

All of you tremble at my country's ability to have modern aircraft, as you should. And did you notice the pilot (he is the one withe the helmet and oxygen mask) ready to meet any foe at a moments notice, we are that prepared. The box in picture 6 is for trickle charge as the plane runs on 110 volts. As for the mocking of the canopy, well our engineers used the template from a company that has made more airplanes than any company ever; I believe it is called Revell. All of the lettering is in English so that the world can understand that this is really an aircraft, and can tremble in fear. The aircraft also has a blink mode. When the pilot engages this mode it causes other pilots to blink, thereby missing from seeing the plane. Smart huh? Peace! Iran #1

I seriously don't know which is funnier- this plane or your "blink mode" comment. You also spelled "dum" wrong. Oh- and if you haven't noticed, we are the USA. Nothing makes us tremble but God alone.

We need to ship them some bailing wire so they can wrap up some of the loose wires. I looks like you can see the wires coming out of the back of the CD player. My guess is the technology here involves some sort of proprietary noise cancelling headphone system that makes the pilot think they are invisible.

    Other details:
    - There is no HUD nor there is a place to put it.
    - The engine intakes are too small.
    - No photos of the exhausts.
I am sure Jim "Wash-Out" Pfaffenbach and Topper Harley would love to fly it.

I almost feel sorry for them. And the flying boats are ridiculous too. That fighter is way to small and the pilot is too exposed. Perhaps this is a joke.
