First it was monkeys in space (or not) and now it’s “GI Joe” fighter jets. Not the best of times for Iran’s aviation and aerospace programs, at least if you listen to the skeptics.
First there were doubts about Tehran’s claim it sent a monkey into space in late January. After photos of two different monkeys that were aboard the alleged one-monkey space shot surfaced, Iran media said there was a photo mix-up and, yes, there was just one Iranian monkey in space.
Then this week Iran unveiled what it said was its new high-tech stealth fighter plane. The jet shown in pictures on the website of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been the butt of jokes all week from aviation bloggers.
“This aircraft looks a lot like an old GI Joe toy,” wrote one blogger.
And from another, “This has to be a joke, right?”

wow, look at all the post of those experts who can judge the performance of a jet solely based on one photo. i will bet not a single one has an engineering degree in aeronautics or even understand the basic physics of how a airplane flys.
You don't even seem to know that the plural of fly is flies.
In the 6th picture, there is an old Centronics-style printer cable coming out of the "avionics" suite. Maybe it's so the pilot can print out his Last Will and Testament if the plane's radar picks up an approaching aircraft.

I'm not sure why an Iranian aircraft has English words on the outside of the plane???

Actually, even a High School student can create something like this. Some cheap plexiglass, wood, nails, some cables, voila!
Please reveal your source of "cheap plexiglass." I do not believe this element exists in Nature.

I hope that they get this to fly, as I'm sure that Israel would love something real to shoot at (instead of just using flight simulators). I did notice that the canopy seems to have no latching mechanism that I can see from the photos, but then again I don't imagine that mach anything is in this planes future....
The canopy would blow off in the wind....
It's a movie prop of some sort, but I'm not sure of the movie. Couldn't be Firefox, again because the labels are English. I saw about 5 minutes of a really bad movie called "Stealth" but never saw any plane shots.
