Iran's Qaher-313 fighter plane

Iran's newest warplane something from 'GI Joe?'

First it was monkeys in space (or not) and now it’s “GI Joe” fighter jets. Not the best of times for Iran’s aviation and aerospace programs, at least if you listen to the skeptics.

First there were doubts about Tehran’s claim it sent a monkey into space in late January.  After photos of two different monkeys that were aboard the alleged one-monkey space shot surfaced, Iran media said there was a photo mix-up and, yes, there was just one Iranian monkey in space.

Then this week Iran unveiled what it said was its new high-tech stealth fighter plane. The jet shown in pictures on the website of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been the butt of jokes all week from aviation bloggers.

“This aircraft looks a lot like an old GI Joe toy,” wrote one blogger.

And from another, “This has to be a joke, right?”

I'm pretty sure I saw that plane flying around on a merry- go-round on the pier. It was being chased by two horses, a Unicorn and a firetruck. I'm pretty sure it was pursuing a helicopter and speedboat.

Let's think outside the box. This could be a kamikazi type aircaft for use against U.S. ships. You don't need long range, launch from airfields or roads near Persian Gulf. Pilot has night vision goggles, GPS, and high quality altimeter. Skim over the waves receiving directions from Iranian awacs type aircraft and pilot crashes plane into carrier. Don't need an ejection system, don't need a large amount of fuel onboard, just need two 1000 pound bombs, internal or external mounts. A jihadist's dream

OK Ahmedinejad looks like you got us now! Wanna pick up that 16 Trillion bar bill we racked up? I wouldn't consider it. I don't think that thing would make it out Iranian airspace.

After pooling all thier pepsi points, the Irianians ordered the jet Dada here it is and only 13000000 milliion more points you can get an A10 Bradley to complete the set.

I know Iran said they shot a monkey into space, but I didn't hear about Ahmadinejad leaving his office all week, so how could it be?? Only thing I'd be concerned about with their "new" planes is (in case) they're airworthy....they're being build for one-way missions. I hear they have one heck of an "in-flight cruise missle repairperson program." They're lining up for admission to school. Chaa!!

If you try to eject from this plane, you will almost certainly break your neck!

Back in the 80's, the Syrians were ejecting from their Russian fighter jets the moment a warning light came on, no matter how insignificant it was. They were loosing so many planes, the Russians disabled the ejection seats. The Iranians are not much smarter.

Sithlord, the videos on youtube are obviously a small remote controlled (RC) scale model. The flight characteristics in the video does nto match a full size aircraft.

Well, if this is a "GI Joe toy" then USA and Israel should not be fearful of Iranian's nukes either because they would be no better than toy either! Why worry and be feared from a toy-maker? Lets lift the sanctions and let them make these toys and then export to American school children to play with......harmless toys!

What we as Americans need to do is realize that an enemy state is progressing. It doesn't matter if it looks like a toy, it can still carry bombs. This is progress for Iran. It should be taken serious.

This is not a real aircraft. It is a poor attempt at fakery which would only work on those with little or no aeronautical knowledge.

Western world trembles at the feet of the Islamic superpower. Israel and there puppets the americans fear Iranian military. The Islamic bomb will burn israel and america. The Iranian Navy will patrol americas coasts and launch one bomb that will send america back to stoneage.

The only thing more sad than a Jihadist, is some white trash hick in his trailer park PRETENDING to be a jihadist, with some delusion that he is going to get everyone on an internet message board to hate people in the middle east.

The size of the glass bubble around the pilot's seat strikes me! Obviously very little electronics inside, all dependent on pilot's sight. Looks more like it's just a seat with an engine behind it!
