The editor of an Italian magazine that published vacation photos of William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, defended the publication against widespread criticism.
"Chi" editor-in-chief Alfonso Signorini said the photos were not scandalous and "portray a couple in love in a happy moment while they are walking on the beach."
The photos of the duke and the pregnant, bikini-clad duchess were taken on a public beach and bought from an international agency, he said.
Don't get it, why is this a problem? Are the Brits so constipated, that they can't have a photo like this taken? If you know paparazzi exist in the world, then don't wear a bikini when preggers....I guess is the solution. Why is this news?
This is Tesco-brand news.
The "royal" family has no legitimacy whatsoever and deserve no special protections whatsoever.
It must be very difficult for young British royalty to find the new dividing line between royal dignity and the "Now" gesture of being almost just like everybody else.
I would be happy to see a return to the relationship of royalty to the public that existed when Queen Elizabeth II gave birth to heirs to the throne: Her Majesty was never photographed in a bikini.
Well, there's still time yet. She's still around, so you could ask her to pose for you, I'm sure. Or have you already asked her?
Sigh. This is the new reality of "journalism"; instant, in-your-face "news." This should be expected, and people should adjust their actions accordingly.
Nobody is exempt from the paparazzi, unfortunately.
And this is supposed to be news?
I think pregnant women are beautiful & love the fact that we don't hide pregnant bellies anymore! C'mon Brits, get w/the program, the Royal baby bump is not off limits anymore than any other pregnant c-leb! People want to see it & root for the happy parents to be! Nothing wrong w/that!!
How many readers here even know the origin of the Order of the Garter?
I say that there has been a great loss.
Yes, by all means, let us join hands and skip merrily to the nearest history class where we may be regaled with the wonderful heart-lifting stories of ancient British murderers and the absurd ideas they had about things. Oh, yes.
@ Basil Wrathbone:
I'll repeat it: there has been a great loss.
Yes, you have completely lost the plot. A great loss indeed. But we shall carry on, nonetheless, thank you. Good day, sir.
