For only the second time in the nearly two-year Syrian civil war, the U.N. refugee agency completed an aid delivery to displaced people inside Syria, the group said Wednesday.
Seven trucks delivered blankets and tents near the Syrian-Turkish border in the country's northwest. A previous aid convoy to northern Syria at the end of January was the first of its kind, the U.N. agency said.
"These are complex operations and not without risk, but the humanitarian needs of the displaced civilians in these areas require action,” said High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres. “The moral imperative to help is clear."
Syria death toll probably at 70,000, U.N. human rights official says
Okay where are the crocks and shoes? Where is the food for them? US get with it, send at least a monthly shipment. Staples at least to make bread. Some type of flooring for the tents, which there probably is some kind of wood or plastic lying about in Turkey, use your imagination. What about some discarded pallets? How about building an oven of brick so some of the people can bake some bread? Give em a line.
Agreed @ Scottish Mama, at the very least how about some of the aid we send to those shiftless North Koreans!
Word, ms. chrissy.
Agree @Scottish Mama.
The problem is that aid to Syrian people is the least of our concerns.
Getting Bashar out at any cost to the people & the region is the priority.
With Israel getting our green signal for more attacks and entering Syria, a wider conflict is a given.
I think public relations with the people who can bring it back to the population and say America gave us food, shelter, and pot to p!ss in goes along way for democracy.
The people do not matter and contrary to our pious slogans they have never.
@ saywhat, they MATTER to WE, THE PEOPLE OF THE US! More so than the people of North Korea! Maybe things of this nature be put to a popular vote by the citizens of the US?
@chrissy – a little off topic, but doesn't Kim Jung look like the alien that came out of Quaid in Total recall?
Lol @ Mama, yup looks like alien material to me and has that look that says "im not to be trusted!"
