The Illinois Senate will vote Thursday – Valentine's Day – on whether to legalize same-sex marriage.
Because Democrats have supermajority control of the General Assembly, the measure is expected to be approved. After the Senate vote, the measure would be considered by the House.
Gov. Pat Quinn, a Democrat, has indicated he would sign the bill.

Marriage is a privelege given to you by God. Marriage is an agreement between 1 God, 1 man, and 1 woman. Government has no place in that agreement. Marriage is not a right, but a God given privelege.
If gov't has no place in that agreement, then what is the problem? Keep your religion to yourself and gov't will have no need to interfere in it. Want a divorce? Don't ask the courts for a divorce if you think gov't has no authority over your marriage.
That may be your BELIEF, but in terms of law, it's just as irrelevant as beliefs from decades past that God separated the races for a reason and that man should keep them separated. That you BELIEVE marriage is a privilege is irrelevant to the law, which has deemed it a civil right in this country. In other words, you don't have a leg to stand on in trying to legislate discrimination against people that you treat as outcasts.

Just to clarify, there is no such thing as LGBT. A man that would do another man( or male child ) is gay regardless of whether or not he woul do a woman. A lesbian is a gay female.
