A reference to the name "Sandy" can evoke painful reminders of last year's tragedies, be it the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School or an historic storm that wiped out thousands of homes and businesses, and left millions in the dark.
But New Jersey's largest firefighters union is looking to honor those affected by both calamities and join them and their mutual names into something more positive.
Firefighters have begun collecting donations for the "The Sandy Ground Project," with 26 playgrounds to be built in communities recovering from the storm - one for each victim gunned down on December 14 at the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.
"Our only challenge is to raise the money," said Bill Lavin, president of the Firefighters' Mutual Benevolent Association, whose 5,000 members are supporting the $2.1 million initiative on the website thesandygroundproject.org.

In the United States, Hurricane Sandy affected 24 states, including the entire eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine and west across the Appalachian Mountains to Michigan and Wisconsin, with particularly severe damage in New Jersey and New York. Its storm surge hit New York City on October 29, flooding streets, tunnels and subway lines and cutting power in and around the city.

For those who don't get the correlation, I will repeat it: the fireman are rebuilding the playgrounds lost in Hurricane Sandy in honor of each of the children who died at Sandy Hook. Memorial parks abound in the US. Yeesh.
Every addict says they wil die without their medication. They also say they don't have a problem. They're right they don't have a problem, the problem has them. That's called denial. Put the meds down and go to rehab, you have reached the point of delusion

Actually yes it will, both diabetes and congestive heart failure are usually the result of bad diet. My neighbor has high blood pressure and I have forced him to change his diet. Result: his doctor took him off more than half of his medications.

And, while Type II diabetes can be controlled with diet changes and medications that do not include insulin, Type 1 cannot be controlled without insulin. Period.
