The U.S. Department of Justice has joined a whistle-blower lawsuit against cyclist Lance Armstrong that was originally filed by a former teammate, an attorney for Armstrong said Friday.
Former Armstrong teammate Floyd Landis, who was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title after failing a drug test, filed a suit in 2010 against their former team, which was sponsored the U.S. Postal Service.
The lawsuit accused the team's former management of defrauding the government of millions of dollars because the team management knew about team members' drug use and didn't do anything.
This administration is trying balance the budget with taxes and law suits. What a joke. The USPS is bankrupt now they're trying to pay bills by suing a juiced athlete.
They are going after him because he could still be convicted for his latest doping in 2009!!
The master cheater is now in serious trouble.
When will all of the Armstrong detractors stop their attacks!?!? Despite having been tested over 500 times Lance has never failed a test. Not once. Just because you – from the warm comfort of your sofa – can’t imagine excelling at the highest level of a sport without cheating doesn’t mean that those who did should be callously labeled as “cheaters.” It is a shame that we now live in a culture that seeks to demonize achievement rather than celebrating excellence.
You do realize that he came out and admitted to doping, right?
Um Mark... he admitted to doping... will that suffice, or will you continue to defend him against something he's admitted to? And, to be clear, I like Lance... to me, his doping is no more shocking than the level of doping that goes on in football... both sports are plagued with PEDs... but the NFL union keeps a nice cover over it (and I'm also a big football fan... just not blinded by my love for something)...
I can't decide if I'm glad the USJD is getting involved, or not... if they get the money, maybe the USPS can rebuild... but at the same time, regardless of his doping, the money spent on Armstrong got the USPS every single penny's worth of advertisement they paid for, and MUCH more.
Regardless, I see the Obama Hater losers come running at the drop of the hat, I'm surprised their low functioning cousin/brother/father inbreds aren't here asking when bicycles will be outlawed due to the mess they've caused... you losers will regret every second of your stupidity on your death beds... what a way to waste precious moments of your lives!
If Congress would stop requiring the USPS to pre-pay their health/retirement benefits for future employees, it would go a long way to help the solvency of the postal service.
Your tax dollars at work. Seriously?
