Gabby Giffords touts gun control

Gabrielle Giffords, a former congresswoman shot and wounded more than two years ago, urged support for background checks on Wednesday.

She and her husband, Mark Kelly, spoke at a gun control rally in Tucson, Arizona, the same place where an assailant shot her in the head.

Kelly said his newly formed gun-control organization is sending a letter to U.S. Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake, both Arizona Republicans, urging them to support background-check legislation.

Gun control would not have prevented gabby from being shot in the head. Atleast it was only a 9mm and not a real gun. That's why she lived.

Hmm. Doesn't she know the only way to deter bad people with guns is good people with more, and bigger, gunz? Getting rid of them actually makes us less safe...or so the whackjobs would have you believe...

Take the victim of a crime and turn her into a poster child for stupidity so her husband has a new job? No thanks. She was shot by a criminal, not by freedom. If you hate freedom, you'll love her new organization – but you won't make the world safer. It doesn't work that way. And nobody with a brain thinks it does.

Here rhey go using drones against citizens while taking our guns away and calling it all const?tut?onal. When are the masses of stupid people going to recognize the tyrannical government Thomas Jefferson warned them about? It's time to impeach the entire Obama administration.

Wow, the NRA sure has a lot of fantastically compassionate and humane supporters. You people should be ashamed of yourselves – but you're incapable.

It doesn't matter if she was a victim last week or 10 years ago, and YEAH she's speaking out, and she's not in office, you know, because she got SHOT by a GUN. Guess victim impact statements are only good in criminal courts, huh, Chrissy?

Pander Bear. What part of "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" do you not understand?

I think Giffords being shot was a tragedy. The same goes for Kennedy, the kids at Columbine, the Kids at Sandy Hook, The people in the Aurora theater shooting, etc... HOWEVER, These tragedies should not interfere with my RIGHTS.

Criminals don't care about laws, that's why they are Criminals. They BREAK the laws, so I fail to see how passing more laws is going to stop any future acts of violence.

And what "well regulated militia" do you belong to Red Squad? Your "rights" end at the tip of my nose, or in this case however far you can shoot your assault rifle.

"I fail to see how passing more laws is going to stop any future acts of violence." – Hmm, not even the laws that allow for straw purchasers to buy as many guns as they like and resell them to whomever they want with no questions asked? You don't think that might stop some future acts of violence? Really?

So lack of empathy is a requiement of being in the NRA? I own guns, and I don't blame the woman for asking for more stringent backround checks and closing loopholes. You think things should just go on the way they are? Good to know. Leave the status quo as it is in everything. We don't need any laws at all. Check.

No i dont things should go on the way they are. I think we need more enforcement of the laws we already have. If they arent enforced then adding more laws solves nothing! And no i dont feel assault guns should be open for puplic purchase but i do believe that law abiding citizens should have the right to bear arms. Emphasis on law abiding!!!
