Man freed after serving 2 decades in N.Y. killing

A New York man has been freed after serving more than two decades in prison for the killing of a rabbi during a botched diamond heist, with a judge calling his conviction a miscarriage of justice.

Brooklyn prosecutors recommended that David Ranta's conviction be tossed out after a onetime witness said he had been coached into identifying the suspect in a police lineup. Ranta was released after a hearing Thursday afternoon.

That coached witness must have no conscience. Why did it take 20 years? Of course, I don't know anything about this case...
Good luck to this man. He will need it.

  6. Once Again

Once again, our hyperactive unaccountable to anyone justice system deep sixs someone who is innocent. Nobody should be convicted of a serious crime- unless it is 100% certain – the courts are SUPPOSE to use restraint, they are suppose to know better – but they don't give a dam, because theres no consequences for these travestys. Tax payers pay millions for hyperactive law and justice system, then we pay millions to throw people in prisons and treat them like animals, then we pay millions to reinvestigate – the we 'graceiously' let him go after 22 years- and pay him 20 million for his pain an suffering- tax payers pay for this game. When are people gonna, start waking up.
