The judge in James Holmes' murder trial accepted his plea of not guilty by reason of insanity Tuesday.
The suspect in last summer's shooting spree that killed 12 people and wounded dozens at an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater will be taken to the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo for evaluation.
He's expected to be returned to the Arapahoe County Jail on August 2.
Judge Carlos Samour Jr.'s ruling Tuesday came about a month after Holmes' attorneys asked to change his plea from a standard not guilty. The original not-guilty plea was entered by a judge on Holmes' behalf in March, over his objection, his defense team said.
Too many young USA citizens lack direction; often, their vision of glory includes guns and bombs. I meet many young Europeans of traditional European ethnicity who can still sing entire operatic arias from memory and yet work outside the arts. Most European violence is imported from other regions.
Why couldn't somebody of appointed an insane judge to this case.
We must avoid racial profiling and give each and every criminal protection under the law, so they may be sprung. Legislators in Ohio are now "backing off" predators, and allowing them to be closer to school age young children.
Its both a lack of direction and reflection of the past 11 yrs unabated focus on wars spawning violence & continuing angst. And then this society of our has evolved to glorify violence, profanity and to shun traditional values. Just look at the movies, video games etc.
European youth are also now free of traditional values and you see that when you travel. Traditional European ethnicity is no guarantee to civilized behavior or aversion to violence. Unlike us though they have a relatively gun free culture and that matters.
In Europe too the youth from traditional ethnic background are as clueless now and distant from traditional values. Its just that their culture is relatively gun free.
