All folks who deal in nefarious conduct use "Throw away phones" and certainly can use encrypted conversation. What's the big deal?

    Allie:
The USA PATRIOT Act of 2001 is an Act of the U.S. Congress that was signed into law by President George W. Bush on October 26, 2001. The title of the act is a ten letter acronym (USA PATRIOT) that stands for Uniting (and) Strengthening America (by) Providing Appropriate Tools Required (to) Intercept (and) Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001.[1]

The act, as a response to the September 11 terrorist attacks of September 11th, significantly weakened restrictions on law enforcement agencies' gathering of intelligence within the United States; expanded the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and broadened the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts. The act also expanded the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism, thus enlarging the number of activities to which the USA PATRIOT Act’s expanded law enforcement powers can be applied.

On May 26, 2011, President Barack Obama signed the PATRIOT Sunsets Extension Act of 2011,[2] a four-year extension of three key provisions in the USA PATRIOT Act:[3]roving wiretaps, searches of business records (the "library records provision"), and conducting surveillance of "lone wolves" — individuals suspected of terrorist-related activities not linked to terrorist groups.[4]
Where does a POTUS in 2008, just after he is elected, quote that he was not going to spy U.S. CITIZENS , in an attempt to capture would be terrorists. Well Allie, not anymore. Electronic information is being sent about millions of Americans straight to the NSA. Anytime there is a release of confidential records to anyone, there has to be a court order. Not anymore.
Allie? You just plain do not care how your freedom is affected, no matter what administration is placed as "ruling class". You don't care about anything that goes wrong, unless its a white person, republican, tea party member, Bush to blame. BRING IT ON!!!

As@Allie pointed out NSA data mining of the kind has been in place since 2006. The Patriot Act & AUMF were initiated and put in place by the previous admn and have the scope to be abused & misused.
Sorry@rupert couldn't respond yesterday, had called it a day by the time.

I don't know if you speak Russian but if you read what the KGB new sites not a state site like RT use to say about Dr Rice (Condi) and she still had to front them and keep civil. All the things they hate a woman, black, single, childless and more powerful than her counterpart. Using the term crudest is being too polite.
