Bangladesh court: Islamist party illegal

Bangladesh's high court has declared the country's largest Islamist party, the Jamaat-e-Islami, illegal.

Jamaat is one of two main opposition parties and a constant thorn in the side of the ruling Awami League.

With the declaration, Jamaat will not be able to take part in the country's upcoming general election - certainly welcome news to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

But such a ruling can also reignite a fresh round of political unrest in the South Asian nation.

Instead of making one party illegal lets make both illegal! They have proven themselves to be a "band of misfits" Wonder if we could even put them out of office if we voted for it?

@ronvan- there is always something evil waiting to take their place. Most people like myself don't have the stomach for it.

When I was in grade 9 I wrote a report about Bangladesh. We were supposed to each pick a third world nation and come up with a plan to fix it.

    Trust me. It's hopeless.
