'Into the wild' obsession leads to teen's death?

Before he went missing, Jonathan Croom had developed an obsession with the movie "Into the Wild," in which a young man leaves society to go live off the land.

No correlation between the book and his death, except maybe the book was an indicator of suicidal ideation, fleeing the pressures of life or whatever. Another millennial with weak coping skills from being over connected to his gadgets and facing the prospect of supporting himself, I suspect. It's being investigated as a suicide at any rate.

The USA will see an increasing number of "calls of the wild" and deaths by "senseless" violence. I expect it from the youth of a society that no longer values material success, and actually condemns such achievement, along with "too much" education and the highest culture of Western civilisation.

Such a pity he didn't make Gordon Gekko his cinematic hero.

I suspect todays youth actually puts too MUCH emphasis on material success! They need to put more on moral values and less on material.

permits raise some live chickens and gettah goat to cut yard yah grass...
