Zimmerman wants $200K from Florida

Lawyers for George Zimmerman, the Florida man who was acquitted of second-degree murder in the killing of Trayvon Martin, plan to ask the state to reimburse Zimmerman for at least $200,000 of expenses incurred during his trial.

Under Florida law, an acquitted defendant cannot be held liable for court costs or any charges while detained in custody, as long as a clerk or judge consents to the refund.

The costs may include money spent for expert witnesses, travel expenses and fees for transcripts.

you know what is crazy? Everytime there is an alleged racially motivated crime, Rev sharpt and jesse jackson are right there to talk bad about the "racial discrimination" in this country and how much of a "travesty" it is. But you know when you get 2 black guys, and a white australian baseball player together, and these black guys kill this white guy for no reason just for fun, where the hell are they? Why can't they discuss how this was racially motivated because I sure in the hell feel it was. Why can't we discuss the violence in inner city communities mostly among the black population. Why can't we discuss a way to solve this instead of just kicking and screaming like little children everytime a white guy kills a black guy. Or instead, how about the media puts me on tv to put my two cents in everytime a black man kills a white man. I'm not racist, just saying.

In a USA court, prosecutors have to prove a case with evidence. When the evidence indicates an absence of guilt, prosecutors should not bring charges.
My comment will probably be blocked or deleted, as the legal methods of justice are unpopular.

I would award Zimmerman the $200,000.00 and more.

I find it astounding that people can write lengthy tomes and get it posted, and I can't even write 2 sentences saying how we need to stop putting Zimmerman in the news every time he passes gas.

I don't think that we're in 1984 anymore, Toto, but I surely do seem to be engaging in too much WrongThink.

Lol @ banasy agreed. And if that toad wants to profit from his evil acts he should do it the OJ way and write a book instead of making the ppl of florida pay! He might make $10 or $20 anyway!

I wonder if OJ is still looking for the "real" killer from his prison cell?

I know I'm a bit late to bring up this point, but did you all notice it was Zimmerman's lawyers applying for the money? If the money gets paid, the lawyers will get it. Zimmerman won't see one cent. It is specifically for expenses related to the case. The defense fund was short leading up to the case and the lawyers were working pro bono.

Come on dude. Your the one that got lucky. We should strike Syria by sending air rockets. We should be forgiven our debts to IRS only once. Tackle all issues now.

Not Guilty and $200K from Florida. Lucky Son Of A Gun! I have a feeling we will be hearing more about this man over the next couple years. He is his own worse enemy.
