Reports: Man killed by remote control toy helicopter in Brooklyn

A 19-year-old man died in Brooklyn Thursday afternoon after suffering a serious head injury, according to the New York Police Department.

CNN affiliates report the man was killed after an accident involving a remote control toy helicopter.

CNN affiliate WABC cites sources saying the man was decapitated by the chopper blades, while CNN affiliate WPIX's sources say they took off the top of the man's head.

Gabrielle downgraded to tropical depression

Tropical Storm Gabrielle was downgraded to a tropical depression Thursday morning, but still was expected to drop a fair amount of rain on Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, forecasters said.

Gabrielle is expected to dump up to 4 inches of rain in parts of Puerto Rico and up to 8 inches in other places, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

"These rains could cause dangerous flash floods and mudslides over mountainous terrain," the center said.

Ariel Castro's lawyer says suicide not 'happy ending' as victims remain silent

We may never know what Michelle Knight, Georgina DeJesus and Amanda Berry feel about the death of Ariel Castro.
The man who snatched them off the street, chained them in his house and raped them repeatedly, was found hanged in an Ohio prison Wednesday.
While there were strong opinions about Castro from many, the three women who may harbor the most gut-wrenching, conflicted emotions about Castro were silent.
A spokeswoman said Wednesday the three women would not make a statement.

Zoo to announce paternity, gender of panda cub

Who's the daddy? Is it a boy or girl?
The National Zoo in Washington will answer those questions Thursday morning when it announces the gender and paternity of a giant panda cub that was born last month.
"Stay tuned! We're going to announce the sex and paternity of the panda cub tomorrow around 9 a.m.! #cubwatch," the zoo tweeted Wednesday.
The news was greeted by joyous tweets from fans of Washington's celebrity panda, Mei Xiang.
