Reports: Man killed by remote control toy helicopter in Brooklyn

A 19-year-old man died in Brooklyn Thursday afternoon after suffering a serious head injury, according to the New York Police Department.

CNN affiliates report the man was killed after an accident involving a remote control toy helicopter.

CNN affiliate WABC cites sources saying the man was decapitated by the chopper blades, while CNN affiliate WPIX's sources say they took off the top of the man's head.

    Cold as it sounds, fortunately it was the owner-operator that decapitated himself instead of killing some completely innocent third party. This could've flown into traffic, into a building, into a soccer game of kids. To permit a machine of whirling metal blades to operate in a densely populated area is irresponsible. It's like a lawnmower with no overcarriage flying around, where it will land nobody knows. Irresponsible.

    That is horrible. People really need to practice better safety when using high powered RC toys. They really can be dangerous. For rc boating which is my personal hobby I follow this: http://blog.remotorboater.com/2014/02/safety-while-rc-boating.html and the instruction manual to try to keep myself and boat free from harm
