Web Pulse: Rielle Hunter, NCAA tourney, SXSW, Google

Rielle Hunter, John Edwards' mistress, has a new interview in GQ magazine.

Here’s a quick glance at the collective consciousness of the Web on Monday:

Rielle Hunter: John Edwards' mistress spilled details to GQ magazine, saying that she slept with the former Democratic vice presidential nominee only hours after meeting him in 2006 and that she still loves the father of their child. "You're so hot," Rielle Hunter tells the magazine she said to the former North Carolina senator when she met him at a New York hotel. News of the interview has sent traffic to the magazine to high levels and her name skyrocketing on trends this morning.

#SXSW: The interactive portion of the South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas, ends today. With some of the most tech-savvy people in attendance, Twitter (and, by extension, foursquare) have been the go-to place for the latest announcements, awards and information out of the conference. Speaking of Twitter, which became a real giant at its first SXSW, the company is expected to announce plans for an advertising platform at the conference  today.

NCAA tourney printable brackets: Selection Sunday is over. Now it's time for Make Your Bracket Monday. After all the seeds for the NCAA tournament were released last night, I'm guessing a lot of office printers are going to be on overload today, and a lot of time will be lost in productivity - that is, judging by the pace at which printable NCAA brackets are climbing on Google Trends.

Google in China: Lots of reaction this morning to news that the relationship between Google and China might officially be over; Google appears to be getting closer to shutting down its strictly monitored search engine in China, according to news reports.

#Jemi: It appears the trend of merging celebrity couple names is not going away anytime soon. And it's spreading to the young stars, too. Forget Brangelina; now, apparently, we have Jemi. Big reaction from young fans today after Demi Lovato admitted in a radio interview with Billy Bush that she's dating Joe Jonas. Young Twitter users are tweeting their thoughts on the Disney couple - which some have taken to calling Doe instead - though it has yet to reach the tweeting level of Justin Bieber fans, whose fans regularly dominate Twitter's trending topics.
