Regulators shut down 7 banks

Seven more banks shut down Friday, bringing the total to 37 failures so far this year, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said.

Three of the seizures were in the state of Georgia - Century Security Bank in Duluth, Appalachian Community Bank in Ellijay and Bank of Hiawassee.

The other banks that were closed were Utah-based Advanta Bank Corp., State Bank of Aurora in Minnesota, First Lowndes Bank in Fort Deposit, Alabama, and American National Bank in Parma, Ohio.
