ACORN community organizing group to close
The community organizing group ACORN announced Monday it is closing its operations.
The announcement came after the board of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now met Sunday and approved the steps required "to responsibly manage the process of bringing its operations to a close over the coming months," an ACORN statement read.
The group's remaining state affiliates and field offices will shut down by April 1 and a plan will be developed to pay its debts, it said.

A sad day for community organizers
Dissolve because everybody knows their name. I bet they will reform within 6 months as something new and start all over again...
About time. Very good for America.
They will reform under a new name, and they will be more careful but their mission will not change, they won't be happy until we rename the USA the USSA.
Lots of people will not be able to get help by the targeted destruction of this group. Way to make the struggling struggle more.

I am ashamed of us. Ashamed of the rabid, right-wing unfair targetng of this group. Ashamed of the idiocy that allowed such vast conspiracy theories about ACORN to win the day.
Jacki, ACORN has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt they are a crminial organization, guilty of fraud, tampering and who knows what all. It isn't "right wing" as you call it, and they deserve any means of punishment they get. They are as illegal as insider trading only worse.
I have had personal problems with ACORN organizing methods in my local community, but at least I understand the goal of organizing in local communities to protect the interests of the people. Those who attack ACORN based on the corporate media lies, led by millionaire loud mouth know nothings who are paid by the corporations to attack any opposition to corporate control of America and the World on behalf of the super elite rich, are fools. They do the bidding of their slavemasters and do a great disservice to their own families and future generations!
