CNN poll: Majority disapprove of Obama for first time

For the first time, a CNN poll has found that a majority of Americans disapprove of President Obama's job performance.

According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Monday, 51 percent of respondents disapprove of Obama's job performance and 46 percent approve of it.

Obama's approval rating has dropped steadily each month since December, when it was 54 percent. His highest approval rating in a CNN poll was 76 percent in February 2009 shortly after he took office.

The new poll was conducted before the House on Sunday narrowly approved the Obama administration's signature domestic policy proposal: health care reform.

    Gman,
In case you did not know, when the problem of legislation to confront the airline smoking in an attempt to ban it Congress was split over the decision as well,
it required a similar procedure to what was used for the "ObamaCare".
By implying there was "bribes" in the process you undermine the political system that your precious Republican party is involved in. You should read up, Republicans had over 200 amendments included in that legislation, you seem oblivious to the fact that they can not even manage their own prestige as political figures. Enticing protesters, not very professional.
As an Independent I also acknowledge that the Democrats approach is wasteful and foolish. But they are attempting to do what the public sector will not do. The American public will speak for themselves at the November elections.

Many of you seem to forget that Obama actually used Health Care Reform as part of his campaigning platform.
You voted for him then with fair warning and now disapprove when he's completing his campaign promises.
Foolish, and just an observation but the people who are protesting and becoming violent are uneducated individuals. If you haven't sat down and read through the 2000 page plus legislation then you have no reason to protest its contents.
I have not done so either, BUT, I am also not protesting a cause because of word of mouth.
November elections...plenty of time to study up, get to it Republicans.

A comment was suggested most people don’t know what Socialism is. Here is what Encarta said about it:

ā€œSocialism, economic and social doctrine, political movement inspired by this doctrine, and system or order established when this doctrine is organized in a society. The socialist doctrine demands state ownership and control of the fundamental means of production and distribution of wealth, to be achieved by reconstruction of the existing capitalist or other political system of a country through peaceful, democratic, and parliamentary means. The doctrine specifically advocates nationalization of natural resources, basic industries, banking and credit facilities, and public utilities. It places special emphasis on the nationalization of monopolized branches of industry and trade, viewing monopolies as inimical to the public welfare. It also advocates state ownership of corporations in which the ownership function has passed from stockholders to managerial personnel. Smaller and less vital enterprises would be left under private ownership, and privately held cooperatives would be encouraged.ā€

There is a difference between being a nation of democracy and a socialist nation. Read more.

These are the tenets of the Socialist party of the U.S., the Labor party of Britain, and labor or social democratic parties of various other countries. Therefore they constitute the centrist position held by most socialists. Some political movements calling themselves socialist, however, insist on the complete abolition of the capitalist system and of private profit, and at the other extreme are socialist programs having objectives entailing even fewer changes in the social order than those outlined above. The ultimate goal of all socialists, however, is a classless cooperative commonwealth in every nation of the world.

The American people have been stripped of their rights, ignored, their means of living, and much more. We have not been given a chance to voice our opinions on matters such as taxes, that stupid health reform garbage and much more. The Marxist government in Washington DC didn’t, and doesn’t intend to listen to the people and will do as they damn well please to Americans

The real criminals in this country sit in the white house and on capital hill in Washington DC and have not been prosecuted, they are still free to destroy this nation in any manner they please. They have stolen from the people, destroyed lively hoods, destroyed homes, and will do much more if they are allowed to continue.

You idiots that think ovomit is a great president, how stupid can you be?

Louise C. Glover wondered about the segment of people that were polled for opinions. I wasn't contacted in anyway, no one asked me and I too wonder who was asked.

:Health care reform anger takes a nasty, violent turn . . ." This headline on an article from CNN,

Peter and Darryl hit on truisms in their comments. I am adding what they said on this comment:

"This health care bill will destroy our country. We are on the verge of another Civil War. And if Obama continues with Iraq, we will have more to worry about than just health care.
We no longer stand united and we are no longer the United States of America"

"Republicans aren’t opposed to health care reform, but we are opposed to putting America further in debt. We are already so far in debt that experts say we can never pay it back. Obama struts around with his checkbook as if he has an infinite amount of money in his account: a few hundred billion here, a few hundred billion there and pretty soon you are talking about real money. You cannot get something for nothing and anyone who believes ths health care bill is going to save money should invest in ocean front property in Kansas."

The war amongst the american people has already started Read the article on CNN about
Health care reform anger takes a nasty, violent turn. Amd ot os gpomg tp get worse.

Ovomit is on the road trying to convince people of that stupid reform. Any one that believes one word of his lies has a very, very severe case of dumb a**. The article I suggested that is posted by CNN also mentions the violent acts are not in just one area, it is nation wide. There are a lot of people that have decided to act rather then just talk. Some great president, he’s torn this nation to shreds, turned the American people against them selves, placed the nation in a debt that can't possibly be dissolved, over taxing the people, and more.

If history serves me right, this is how the first War Between the States got started. It wasn’t about slavery as believed. That came in much later during that war. This brain damaged idiot you call a president ??????

    Mary,
you should do your research. Most of America didn't want this? Really?
That's why President Obamas job aproval rating
AFTER healthcare legislation was passed rose to 51%?
No, you can't claim you know what AMERICA wants when you are a single person in a very opinionated and diverse country.

I am tired hearing that a majority of people are against the health care reform bill and using a poll to back up that point. The right does not consider that 12-16% of those against the plan didn't think it went far enough, i.e. public option. Those are people on the far left. Those 12-16% are probably fine that something was done. Polls are misleading.
