4 militants killed in drone strike, Pakistani officials say

Four militants were killed and several were injured Tuesday night in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan's tribal region, two Pakistani intelligence officials and a local government official told CNN.

The officials said the drone fired two missiles at a target in Machis, a village near Miranshah in North Waziristan, one of seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

A count by the CNN Islamabad bureau found there have been 22 drone strikes in the tribal region this year. All have targeted locations in North Waziristan or near its border with South Waziristan.

The officials asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak to the media.

Sure, the militants need to be removed. But what about the innocent injured? What would you think about 5 innocent in your country dying, in order to kill 5 corrupt.

Can you use these drones everyday? They should not be able to sleep without worry of another drone strike. Kill them all until they change their ideology to a more peaceful and loving one then God/Jesus might spare them from the pit where they are headed!

There is a certain fininality about death and what is so certain about those caught up in the drones cross hairs is that these gentlemen will not plan any addional attacks on our boys . It is sad and unfortunate when the innocent are caught up in the warfare and yet it seems that this is done by design to maximize the focus of their plight and to highlight the brutality of our forces. it is an absolute neccessity to continue to track and to destroy these animals and create an envornment that will deny them the safety to plan and to excecute the war against us and those who do not follow their destructive path in the name of God!

firing a quarter million dollar missile to kill 5 rural militants seems a bit ridiculous, but I guess that the military is in need of some positive propoganda at a time when interest in fading in the war in the Middle East. I am currently on track to become a Navy Corpsman and will serve with the Marines on the ground in Afghanistan. regardless of your opinions of the war, there are US and other NATO soldiers dying overseas; please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, word from the front is that the troops feel alone and increasingly unsupported.

    Brian Snyder,

RQ-1 / MQ-1 Predator uses hellfire missles. As of late 2007, some 21,000 Hellfire IIs have been built since 1990, at a cost of about $68,000 each.

It would also cost a lot more than $68,000 dollars to feed, move, and equip a platoon of soldiers to get close enough to those guys with a rifle. So a $68,000 dollar missile, in comparison to useful alternatives, is cheap.

yes AFK as long as the extremist will not stop, innocent lives on both sides will be sacrificed. That is why i'm sick and tired of this complaint about innocent people being killed when in fact they are being used as shields at least not by Americans.
