Police searching for 40 who escaped Mexican prison

Police in Mexico were looking Friday for 40 inmates who escaped from a prison in Matamoros, Mexico, authorities said.

The Mexican Attorney General's office said in a statement they are also looking for two guards who are missing. They were identified as Jose Angel Reyes Segovia and Agapito Uvalle Escalante.

Investigators also were looking for people who have may helped the inmates escape, the attorney general's office said.

The prison break happened before dawn on Thursday, according to CNN affiliate KGBT-TV, which cited a statement from the Tamaulipas Department of Public Safety.

Matamoros is just across the border from Brownsville, Texas, in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas.

These are only innocent murderers, extortionists, drug pushers and terrorists who have not escaped, they have just left their lodgings for a while, so they can obtain the DNA evidence that will set them free. Will all the good citizens that do not believe in the death penalty please put your hands up, so these escapees can pop around for maybe a night or two and a cup of tea.

What's going on on this side of the border I know at one point two border patrol guards got put in jail for doing there job on this side of the border and now on the other side of the border two guards who probably helped the 40 inmates escape are going to live the good life, that they were paid to help these prisoners escape, whats the matter with that picture !!! What happened everything Bush said he was going to do to secure the border during his administration ? Build a fence haha...the only fence he built was the one he put up in his closed off administration. And the dept he put us in,but lets not go there.Hopefully at some point Obama will have more time to focus on this problem before it gets worse, which it probaly will, first he has to get our economy back on track, just to name a few things, remember these are things he stepped into, not problems he created. And there are hard working Mexicans,we're all trying to make it.One last comment, send dog the bounty hunter down there to stop crime and they will arrest him.

Mexico's problems are drug consumption in the US and US guns coming south. The situation is that if you are approached by the cartels, you have a choice; take the money and do what they say or refuse and be honest. Decriminalize drugs in the US and choke off the money. No money, no guns. No money, no corruption. Better do this now before the cartels corrupt US law enforcement the same way. It's coming to a city near you. If the Mexican cartels are broken without drug law reform in the US then another group will fill the void. Stop bashing Mexico and Mexicans and tell your lawmakers that prohibition has never worked.

I can see their future, they will be crossing the boarder into america. From there they will find Day Labor Job's, or work in construction. Why is it they did not release the information on what charges put them in prison and if they are dangerous or Drug Lords. God 2 days have gone by, and still nothing. Sorry Mexico wont be finding them in that country after 2 hours after the break out.

The whole country is corrupt from the local grocer to the elementary school teacher. At least in the US, corruption does not begin until levels that are above my pay grade and decision making authority.

This is sad. I recently spent three months in Puerto Escondido Mexico. The 2 weeks before leaving I was jumped by two Mexicians with "diving knives". I was just returning from dinner with a young woman I had meet the day before. She lost a shoulder bag which one of the men had cut from her, thus she lost a digital camera, cell phone and some money. I went hand to hand combat with the one chap and eventually scared them off by "yelling and shouting". I was trying to attract attetnion to the situation but no one came to our aid. I liked the area as it was my first time there. I will return when the crime turns around. This is no place for tourists. Find these two guys, charge them, put them in jail. When that starts to happen them my $$$$$ return, but until then I will just observe the situation from Canada.

If the government of Mexico had allowed their honest hard woking citizens to own firearms, many of their problems they have now would likely not have surfaced. Only the wealthy drug cartels are armed as well as the federal police force.

I agree with comments that it had to be drug cartel funded in order to pay off guards & some execs on the inside. My main concern is the danger any one of these prisoners may present to our safety & well being if even one of them did not have a plan after escaping, Come on Mexico this wasn't two or three prisoners who escaped. It was 40! Its like something straight out of a Hollywood movie. I can't help but chuckle a tad bit on the inside just because of the racist statement made by former President Vicente Fox. Apparently most Mexicans did not even find his statement offensive in a country where they still use "black face" as part of their comedy routines & they still hand out nick names based on skin shade. Clean up your own house first Mexico before you start talking about America's set up & faults. This is my family here in the USA & at least we dare to mix it up (culturally) on a large scale.

You americans dont mix culturally by choice. All of you want the non americans out of this country because supposedly were taking your jobs??? when Bush was wanting to get Immigrants out I hoped for him to do it just so all of you can see your country going down little by little. Let me ask you this who is working your fields? Is it not mostly mexican immigrants? so when they get kicked out do you think americans that dont have a job are going to want to work ten hour days in the sun for little pay? I think not!

After checking all the Hideouts within 100 miles of the prison... Start looking into California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and all the cities in those states. That's where their crime partners are!
