9 teens charged in western Massachusetts suicide
Nine teenagers have been charged with involvement in a months-long campaign of bullying that led to the suicide in January of a 15-year-old girl, a prosecutor said Monday.
The younger sister of Phoebe Prince found the body hanging in the stairway leading to the family's second-floor apartment, Northwestern District Attorney Elizabeth D. Scheibel told reporters in the western Massachusetts town of Northampton.
"It appears that Phoebe's death on January 14 followed a torturous day for her when she was subjected to verbal harassment and physical abuse," she said.

Phoebe is the only one at fault. Since when is suicide somebody elses fault? Grow up humans.
Captain Obvious, where is your respect for other human being, other culture, innocence, the right to grow up at one's own pace? In your ultra extremist philosophy, you have argued that "the girl alone was 'guilty,'" You seem to believe that human society is necessarily governed by the survival of the fittest, that there is no room for kindness and freedom from bullying, that those who do not know the jungle rules and do not live by them, are doomed to die like the ancient Rome! All this is utter baloney! This is not humanity I want to be part of! This is Nazi dog-eat-dog losing, barbaric utopia that cost the world more than a hundred million lives! Humans act as beasts often, I grant. But these people imply that such is "normal." It's not! It's wrong! Ideally, every child should be a pro in self-defense. It is, however, extremely cruel to condemn and doom those who are not. Children, like Phoebe, are delicate like flowers, and this is their beauty. They have a constitutional right to live and to grow up in security! They have aright not to fear bullies at every moment! All children need not be black belts, savvy on how to handle bullies! Our society will self-destroy because of "sages" like you! Offenses "are not born in the mind of the offender! Offenses are a real product of sick, evil minds, seeking to control and debase others! The bullies get a sexual kick from that! They feel more macho! They are quickly "rewarded" with attention by sick girls as themselves! They are part of an evil, controling world! They take away other's dignity, privacy, and innocence! The societies that tolerate these violators of human rights end up producing violence, pain, genocides, and holocausts!
This absolutely breaks my heart. I am now in college but have suffered extreme bullying in middle and junior high. I want these girls to not only rot in prison, but also rot in hell.
Why can't people just leave others alone? What has this world become?
To the nine girls involved, I hope you will do some serious soul-searching.
