CNN Poll: Obama approval ratings up

Passage of the landmark health care bill appears to have boosted President Barack Obama's approval rating, but it has not affected his re-election chances so far, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday indicates that 51 percent of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing in the White House, with 48 percent saying they disapprove. That 51 percent approval rating is up five points from a week ago, before Congress approved the health care reform bill and the president signed the legislation into law. Four in ten respondents say they disapprove because Obama is too liberal and 6 percent say they the president is not liberal enough.

Nothing is free.. all entitlements come w/ a price tag. Look at the bailouts those companies are paying for it..the gov't thinks they can control them/tell them what to do because they gave them money. Most people do not care about that because it really doesn't effect them and those companies are just getting what is coming to them right? What about health care what is the price tag there.. the "total" cost. We will know soon enough. The gov't is not a benevolent entity trying to help all those that can not help themselves it is a power hunger one that only invests in places that will allow it to aquire more power. We better start studying our history books or we could just repeat it.

Support your President, support your country. Anything else is Treason! If you find yourself dissatisfied with the leadership, MOVE. Come back when the person you WANT to run the country is in office. Until then, quit the crying and blaming! KEEP up the Great work President Obama.

I'm a Republican, but I agree with what Obama is doing. Maybe a bit too much, too fast. I side more Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan on Health Care Reform. For example, I would have taken smaller steps for health care reform – go after the big costs to the system first, i.e. Medicare fraud, malpractice reform, health insurance company rescission regulation. Start with the big stuff in a smaller bill – would have had more bipartisan support. I do NOT think he is a socialist – that's the extreme rightists just throwing their ego behind the party. He's just trying to regulate a free enterprise system which has gone out of control because of greed – auto industry, banking industry, and health care industry.

The fact is, whenever any individual, in any system/country, tries to change the system, he will be criticized – it's the nature of the society. But, at the end of the day, I think Obama is trying to do good for the country. Unfortunately, the changes he are implementing won't truly be noticeable for years/decades to come. Thus, he is a controversial figure under much critique. Still, I think the groundwork he is laying for numerous issues, both domestic and international, are sound. He's limited by his youth, inexperience, and hastiness. His positives are his charisma, intelligence, and desire to do the right thing. Unfortunately, the GOP has no charismatic, real leader to represent their party....yet.....this country is founded on friction – it's what makes it so great. I wish there was a better Republican presence – it would have helped. As for the future of this country? Life will go on. Eventually, the economy will sloth itself out of the hole – people will still complain. I love this country – just not sure if it will still carry the same mantle of greatness it has. Other countries are on the rise.....

Obama is crashing and burning in the polls. Ignorance got him elected and the silent majority will have the last laugh. All you liberal socialists can thank yourselves for the increased taxation and loss of freedom. Freedom was fought for not given as a handout. The people established a government not the other way around. Enjoy watching your Boy and your Congress fail. Good thing you guys still have CNN to report what you like to hear.

Low pole ratings etc. Do you think maybe that it may help him if he got white – washed like M. Jackson ? M. J. is gone but it seems as though the legend lives on.

    Mr. President,
Please just continue to do whatever the future of America needs like the health care Reform and and to stop the ongoing greedy scam by the rich and the bank system. We need you more than anytime in Americn History. The greed, the hatred and the ignorant will continiue to lobby against you out of racism or else. Most Americans are too so busy to be well-informed and easily misled by the media paid by the rich Rrepublican. Please inform them more clearly.
I have read somenon-intellectual remarks agaisnt you. They are cheap and have no ground. Our thanks to Madam Speakes, to vice-President Joe Biden and all Democrats who care for the future of America.
    Dear all Republicasn,
I used to be a Republican but I have to switch because I believe the HealthCare Reform and The Banking System Reform will give us the right direction into the future. The Roman Empire and The Mongolian Empire just perished from the Earth. Do you Why ? Greed, Hatred, And Ignorance are the answer. Please talk from your heart. The heart of culture and civilization.

Thank goodness this guy is in charge. He has tackled health care reform, the deficit, a massive recession, wall street reform and no immigration reform. I makes me sick when republican talking heads talk about the vacation time he takes. Man do they have short term memory. He has also gotten serious about the war in Afgahnistan while drawing down in Iraq. I really hope come Nov. and 2012 people come to their senses and understand who is really on the side of average Americans.

I salute you President Obama. Considering the disastrous conditions that the Bush/Cheyney administration left for you in 2009, in a recession and on the brink of a depression, the worse foreign relations, the deficit over the top. spending two billion dollars a month on the illegal Iraq war, illegal wire tapping and water boarding, home foreclosures over the top, 45,000 americans dying each year because of no health care, I SALUTE YOU President Obama. Had it not been for the spending that you did, we would now be in a depression. We are still suffering from the damage done by the Bush/Cheyney regime. The unemployment rate still high however, it would be much worse had you not made the decisions that you did. BE NOT DECEIVED AMERICA by the hateful tactics and fear mongering of the republican party. They have worked tirelessly in opposition to EVERYTHING the president has tried to improve. They are insigting fear and hate. Hate has no color America. Hate is dangerous for ALL of us. Let us not forget America why we are really in this mess. WE MUST PRAY
