At least 9 people shot in D.C.
Nine people were wounded along a city block in southern Washington, D.C., Tuesday night after shooters opened fire on a crowd, police said.
Metro Police Chief Cathy Lanier said the shooting prompted a lengthy police chase that ended in the arrest of three people. Four officers were treated for minor injuries from an accident during the chase.
The victims who were shot near the 5000 block of South Capitol Street included six males and three females, and some were in very serious condition, Lanier said.
A tenth person was shot on nearby Galveston Street, but it wasn't clear whether the two shootings were related.
Lanier decline to give more details, saying it was too early in the investigation.
However, she told reporters that, "We've made a lot of progress to stop gang retaliation and violence and, in the end, if this ends up being some kind of gang retaliation then shame on all of us."

Why do people associate loose gun laws with gun violence? The people who are doing the shooting are drug dealers and gangsters....they're criminals! I'm sure if you're dealing crack, you probably aren't going to care if guns are illegal. DTexas and Joe both said it correctly.
One would think that with DC having the strictest anti-gun laws in the country this wouldn't be possible. Another proven case that gun laws don't stop criminals from using guns to commit crimes.
I'd be willing to bet you're all wrong. The shooters in this were street thugs, and I bet none of them could tell you the difference between right and left or define what a democrat or republican even is...actually I bet none of them are even registered voters. They aren't left or right, they're in the middle..the middle of destroying our country. And all anyone can do is point fingers at each other when neither is to blame.
Aw, calm down. It was just a little urban sporting event. Sarah Palin's people hunt wolves from planes and that's OK. Dick Cheney shotguns caged birds and lawyers and that's OK.. The FBI & ATF get it on at Waco & Ruby Ridge and that's OK. But let the poor folks try to have a little fun.. I mean is this Amerika, or what?.

I'm in the UK now (temporarily) and to argue the point for "responsible" gun ownership...
1st, refer to the link I posted or simply Google Gunfacts...first hit and your in the "no-spin" zone.
2nd, here in the UK I see articles daily about knife crime/murders and almost weekly about murders by gun...in a country that's banned them long ago. Still doesn't keep the criminals from getting/using them and it doesn't stop the determined nutcase from using them either.
Every shooting of an innocent person, whether it's one or en-mass, is a major tragedy...but stats from the US and around the world show that outlawing guns only drives up violent crime and makes the unarmed a potential victim. Since moving here I've had to shell out major money for a security system and a dog in the hopes it stalls an intruder for long enough that the police show up (yeah right!) or my family can get away. I'll likely always worry about my families safety, but I won't sleep soundly again until I'm in America and my wife once again has the Mossberg within reach!
It's still amazing to me that there is so much hate coming from the left as you can see with many of these comments. What is it that the left cannot understand about the 2nd amendment? If you banned all guns there would still be guns in the hands of the bad guys. Why do some leftist senators who vote anti-gun have concealed weapon permits? Why is it ok for them to have guns? One need only to look at the crime rate in countries where guns have been banned to see that it has not lowered the rate of crime.
Anyone advocating elimination of personal weapons should be required by law to post a sign in their yard, "GUN FREE HOME".
We are coming closer and closer to the time that we have to recognize the play on emotions by people hoping to tap into right-wing anger and how it may precipitate violence.

Lennon said in his communist manefesto in order to control the citizens you must first un arm them. The death toll of innocent citizens after Lennon and Stalin 5 million.
Why dont you on the left focus on getting the guns out of the criminals hands and making all of our citys safer and stop giving all these gang bangers and criminals more rights than I have as a law abiding gun carrying citizen.
Rules for radicals un arm the masses not by bloody revolution but by laws and regulations then you will control the population. this is not new it has been the policy of many evil dictators throughout history, the death totals from communism keep climbing into the millions. as for me I will live free and defend my family 1st.

Most Violent Crimes happen out of control issues or out of fear. The reason an individual is killed with a weapon is because the perp is afraid to get caught. Yes these individuals are probably thugs who most likely have a criminal background. These stupid gang bangers think they should control all the other gangs when in all reality they should be locked away. One good way of ending gun violence is to not remove the guns, but remove the gangs and crack heads out there robbing to get money for their next rock.

What a sad incident over a gold braclet which is a material piece of jewelry.The jewelry has no value over a human person, once the person kills you cant bring that person back to life, but the material things will be here for ever. we need to think about our actions before we take them, God is not please with the way we live as Black people and the white man wants us to kill each other with drugs,gang violence,molestation,shoplifters,and etc.....
