At least 9 people shot in D.C.

Nine people were wounded along a city block in southern Washington, D.C., Tuesday night after shooters opened fire on a crowd, police said.

Metro Police Chief Cathy Lanier said the shooting prompted a lengthy police chase that ended in the arrest of three people. Four officers were treated for minor injuries from an accident during the chase.

The victims who were shot near the 5000 block of South Capitol Street included six males and three females, and some were in very serious condition, Lanier said.

A tenth person was shot on nearby Galveston Street, but it wasn't clear whether the two shootings were related.

Lanier decline to give more details, saying it was too early in the investigation.

However, she told reporters that, "We've made a lot of progress to stop gang retaliation and violence and, in the end, if this ends up being some kind of gang retaliation then shame on all of us."

    John,

You must be one of those people on the left that got bailed out by people like me on the right. If you want to start blaming certain people for things you know nothing about look in the mirror and start with the person you see first and go from there.

Okay people you must not be from metro DC area. Souther DC huh? Hmm south east or south west. Both are rough areas. It is spring, the thugs are out. The simplest answer is normally the correct one.

i find it kind of funny that people think guns are the problem, and that taking them away will just cure everything. when in truth the public will then be sitting ducks for people with ILLEGAL guns. take away are protection publicly and crime will go up because fear will go down in the criminals mind. think about this from their side. i do not deny that maybe it will be harder to get illegal guns but still the general public will have to rely on the police and they dont always show up in time.

Southeast DC is where all the action is. West of the river is like a different planet than that war zone. It's crazy how the separation of crime is so geographically influenced in the city.

If the right wings wanna go the violent route, let em do it ! I know how to use a gun too. I do not condone violence unless it is in self defense and im sure democrats can defend themselves

I live in SW DC and I'm familiar with the area of this shooting because I know it is where you don't go ever, even in broad day light. I don't even think cops will go to that neighborhood. Earlier poster was right, this is nowhere near any federal property, unless you consider section 8 federal property.

Yeah, yeah, blame the right wingers, and ignore the leftists that are shooting people.

Is there even anythign to suggest political motivations here, or is the Left just masturbating again?

For all we know, this was a gang-related shooting. DC is a very violent place.

But really, JW? I love it when the same people who oppose abortion oppose all social/health care programs that would ensure the children were cared for when they got here. The right is supposed to be the side that wants government out of people's lives...so take your nose out of other people's choices and leave judging to God, because he's the only one who is qualified.
